LSU DC to TAMU


you named a solid list that started at AAMU and only one has been a head coach as they get caught in that "great recruiter" line and get overpaid to be a position coach instead of coming down to be a head coach...some schools don't take black coaches seriously to be a coordinator but they'll overpay them to watch out for the black kids on the team while you see a young white coach rise through the ranks overnight...no way should Burton Burns, Chavis, etc. not be considered as an HC somewhere

Great recruiter or name on the shirt? Larry Porter was a "great recruiter" at LSU and he sucked at Memphis....but then you learn how to become a "great recruiter" and it's not that hard with "great things"

that's why one of our schools needs to move up. charlie strong would have been a head coach at jackson state or bama state instead of an assistant at florida for forever.
 



then they get mad in life when no one ever gives them a coaching job or you do like FAMU and hire a guy like Alex Wood who finally realizes his FBS dreams are gone so head to the HBCU at 60-years old

Don't think Chief to aTm is going to help. Teams with high-powered offenses usually don't have defenses that compliment them, regardless of who is running the defense. Teams score so quickly that it hurts their defense.

Yeah I agree and Chief wasn't a recruiter. From the list of possible replacements I've seen this may actually work out better for LSU.

Urban Meyer had both at Florida. Florida State had it last year and often when Bobby Bowden had good teams. Miami had high flying offenses with good defenses. It just means the head coach has to buy into not killing his defenses by at least running the ball. You can be high flying if you run and pass. Problem is some just like to pass.

Good point. The key is running the ball and knowing when to slow the game down.

Yeah some of these offensive coordinators or head coaches that call plays think they are so smart to they out coach themselves. I like what Urban Meyer said about who he will hire to replace his outgoing OC. He was like I don't need someone who thinks he is a genious. No cat like a Mike Martz. Lol. They kill their defenses.

It helped that the defense was real deep too. I think Kevin Sumlin knows when to slow it down for his defense.

For instance in this Baylor game, they have scored from several quick strikes, and if Michigan State just kept to their guns and were patient they could drive down the field each drive because Baylor's defense has to be tired.

Baylor's defense has made some plays, plus State hasn't come close to slowing down this offense.

Yeah they don't know how to combat the speed. They look like your stereotypical Big 10 team in this game. It explains why Ohio State and Oregon were able to blow them out. They don't have the speed to match elite teams.

Baylor averages 50 a game. Nobody can match their speed. In other news, it's 4 straight losses for the vaunted SEC West.

Michigan State missed a chance to really make some noise prior to this TD drive. They were pounding Baylor on their previous drive, and the QB made an ill-advised throw to the endzone which got picked. More patience, and this is possibly a 1 possession game.
