LSU 'compromises' in football scandal
LSU, "purely in the spirit of compromise," is apologizing and paying $150,000 in an academic scandal involving Tiger football players.

This occurs in the settlement of one of two lawsuits in connection with allegations involving academic misconduct and pressure to change football players' grades.

Naturally, LSU officials say none of this should be construed as an admission of any wrongdoing by the university.

A former university kinesiology instructor, who says she got hate mail and death threats after blowing the whistle on the scandal, now will get some money, along with several letters of reference and apologies, from LSU.

How do you expect a player to study if he's always @ practice? It is my belief that instructors should give grades to athletes if they are winning championships and giving the school national exposer. I call it the schools gift to the athlete that has help that program make millions. This is just my belief nonetheless. Special Athletes Deserve Special Treatment....................

So when these "special athletes" don't make the NFL or NBA what should they do with their degrees they were "awarded" in Accounting, Economics, or Mathmatics?

Actually, im not. Why do an Athlete sign on @ a University? Chances are he's not there for an education. He's there to help that program win. That's really his job right there. All else is secondary.

Also, if he has a degree in Accounting or Economics, as you know must companies like to train you their way.

I might be wrong but that's my take. The more they win the more they should be compensated..................

Why don't we let them declare a major, print their degree, and give it to them in four years.

Being an Athlete for a top notch University isn't an easy task. Their degree wouldn't be given to them, they would have earned it. Why do they sign on? To play ball. It's a sports scholarship, not a academic one.

Why? We are not the Borg! I have my own mind and opinions. Like i keep saying IT IS MY BELIEF!!!

And no matter how you all feel, this goes on @ every other University and even on the High School level. And it's not changing no time soon.

Yeah..you know what happened to those "special treatment" guys once their NFL/NBA dreams got smashed like ice in a snowball machine... Without something (and education) to fall back on, they just fall to the wayside or get a job at the plant or become prisoner 45682-KY Jelly....

They are STUDENT-athletes for a reason. ...There's a reason why there's only like 500 NFL and 300 some-odd NBA players...
