MONTGOMERY, Ala. | After a stellar collegiate career that saw her win four consecutive Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) low medalist honors, former Alabama State golfer Chanelle Avaricio took another step in her career this month.

Avaricio finished third with a 205 after posting a 2-under 70 in the final day, taking the low amateur honors in the ninth leg of the seventh Ladies Philippine Golf Tour (LPGT) season put up by ICTSI and organized by Pilipinas Golf Tournaments, Inc.

The tournament was her final tournament as an amateur, as she earned her Ladies Philippine Golf Tour (LPGT) card to play professionally.

In one of the most entertaining final matches in U.S. Women's Amateur Championship history, Gabriela Ruffels birdied both the 17th and 18th hole (her 35th and 36th hole of the day) to defeat Albane Valenzuela by a single stroke.

Back in early April I wrote who I thought were the biggest surprises and biggest disappointments of the year. The LPGA had only played 8 tournaments at that point. So much has changed since then. The LPGA has now played 23 of the 32 tournaments on this year's schedule, and I think it is time to take another look.

It has been 3 months since I last did a report card on this year's rookies. At that time the LPGA had only played 11 tournaments, they have now completed 23 events. So much has changed.

Here is a complete analysis of which LPGA rookies have been successful enough to retain their LPGA status for 2020, and which rookies have not.

This week the LPGA travels to Canada for the playing of the CP Women's Open. Brooke Henderson will be trying to defend the title she won last year when she fired a final round 65 to win by four strokes over runner-up Angel Yin.

Here is my preview and much more:

With the LPGA taking a break, I thought this would be a good time to do another LPGA player profile.

The player I have chosen today is a seven time major champion. This player is also a member of the LPGA Hall of Fame. The person I have chosen today is:

Inbee Park
