Listen: SWAC’s Sharp Talks Celebration Bowl, 7-Game Conference Schedule & APR

I'm excited about the 7 game mandate because with the 9 game JSU had only room for 1 ooc opponent because of the southern heritage classic. Now we can schedule 3 ooc which Jsu will probably let one or two be southern and/or Grambling some years but if not atleast there's that option for three ooc game which can even include SU, 1 FCS ( northwestern Louisiana, Jacksonville State, etc ), and 1 FBS ( USM, South Alabama, Troy, and even
Arkansas State ) Let The Good Times Roll In The SWAC. !!!!!!!! And at the right time also. With the new improved coaching staff at various institutions except for Comegy, some if not most of these ooc should be a very close matchup if not winnable !!!!

That's my thing JSU would probably keep SU and GSU and add a totally different opponent. Hell if I was JSU I would keep SU indefinitely and alternate between GSU and a FCS opponent.

Package up those OOC games and sell them to the highest bidder (promoter). I'd love to see SU and JSU in the SuperDome again. How about Grambling and Alcorn in Shreveport? Or Valley/ UAPB in Little Rock or St. Louis?

This is a great opportunity for our schools. 7 conference games. 2 classics with a SWAC/ MEAC/TN State. And you get to schedule an SLC or Ohio Valley team. AND a D2 or FBS school if you so choose. Not to mention the years you can play 12 games. Any SWAC program can be successful with this format. It's for the best.

You all are playing AD.... THIS 7 game format is going to be a MESS! What will make this time different than the previous two times?

If the last five years, won't make you do things differently, then those programs need to quit football. We have to have some faith in our leadership...as hard as that may be for some of us.

Its good for SPORTS fan. I would love to be an AD with a 7 game format but watch how many D2 and D3 and NAIA schools fill these schedules. Couple that with money games and schools will have 2-3 weeks of WASTED football.

I don't have faith. If you only have to schedule ONE game and you come up with Lynchburg and University of Faith and Concordia ... why believe they can do better with more games? We should have kept 9 games and put stipulations on those other two games. This is about to get RIDICULOUS! Watch! At least when you have 9 games, you are FORCED to play 9 1-AA teams.

It would be a mess for other schools except JSU, GSU, and SU. As long as the rules are ENFORCED....now as far as enforcement I'm with you.

LOL...true.

I'm not against money games. Bills gotta get paid, right? As for the cupcakes- if those programs think they can sustain on a schedule full of creampuffs, then that's their cross to bear. It's not about Wins and Losses- it's about dollars and cents.

I'm totally against money games. and if ALL 1-A vs 1-AA games were banned, the playing field would be even. Let's see how the playoffs deter these money games.

Exactly. What's the point of having an undefeated schedule but filled with cream puff schools that YOU are paying to come to your school and using you as a money game!!!!

SWAC schools can look forward to a bowl game now. I would rather have a team that is battle tested to go in and win than a school that played a bunch cream puffs with an undefeated schedule and put on a clown show.

If you're going to allow playing SWAC schools that aren't counted towards conference honors ... then why in the hell you go away from the 9-game conference schedule to begin with?
Thank you.

This is that same old back room begging. I will bet it is the same teams as last time crying about scheduling that are not even going to try and schedule ooc games.

I knew this was too good to be true.

Yes, you are all about competition. What good is competition when you can't even put fifty (50) players on scholarship because of the budget crunch? That's a sure fire way to not be competitive.

And I dont want to hear that your crowd only want to see hbcu schools because a lot of these fans dont show up for those games either. Most schools in the SWAC only draw between 5k to 12k on a good day anyway.

So someone explain the fake argument that playing a PWC will hurt attendance if you only get 5k to 12k for those hbcu games.

Bruh this is one of those times when I just put my fingers in my ears and start singing lalalalalalalalalalalalalalalalallala... LOL

kill that... we have NEVER had a problem filling a schedule.... last year it was UAB, A&T and Tuskegee..... this year it is Cincinatti and Coastal Carolina... next year its Auburn and South Alabama.

What from the last 5 years makes you think they will do anything differently? With just 2 OOC dates some schools had major trouble even getting D2 teams scheduled.

Well maintain it. So what about the two additional games? Who will it be. Next year will be the key.

..and ONLY that D2 school would come to you. JSU is not the JSU we used to be BUT there is no way we would be accepting all of those away games and I certainly don't think we would be letting Coastal Carolina pay us to come to them. When you are talking to JSU and the Jags, we are primarily talking about home-home games. I know I couldn't care less about these money games so I don't consider UAB, Cincinatti, Auburn and South Alabama good scheduling.

I could see a $$$ game every now and then, especially on a year when 1-AA schools can play 12 games but 5-6 money games over 3 years? Nah. That's not football. That's foolishness.

Also, that part about NEVER is not true. In one of the phases of the 7 game format, you all could not get good teams on the schedule. I recall I used to always tease you all that you could not get a MEAC team to play you. Seems you all were playing D2s becasue you were not getting $$ games back then.

Those Virginia Lynch burg games will not count anymore so don't look for those type games. Now look for some better DII's.

I also would not mind Alcorn other FCS schools like Southeastern Louisiana, Nicholls State, Strphen F. Austin, etc.

See, I told folks about putting those cupcakes on the schedule. I was called everything but a Child of God (especially in that War Party Room) but that is the nature of the society we live in.

Competition breeds improvement. If you hate to compete, you will get eaten.
Now, you now know that SU, JSU, and Grambling can play each as NON-CONFERENCE GAMES. Today's date is July 21, 2015. You know the 7-Game Mandate is coming....HELLO?!?!?

STOP BLAMING THE SO-CALLED BIG THREE. What is stopping YOUR ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT from PLANNING AHEAD and already having your FCS Opponents lined up for later seasons?
