Let's Talk About a Serious Topic...HIV (cont)

Im Back Folks.......There are differents ways that one becomes infected of course......The Whole "DownLow" mess is not your main means of infection.....the Majority of infections lately have manifest through IV Drug Users.....and Becoming infected are Middle-Age Adults...Ages 27-57....I rarely see people younger than 25...I know that there are many scenarios that can take place.....Folks you just cant focus of 1 group of people... This disease covers every sexually preferenced group period.....
Blacks are disproportionately affected based on ignorance and taboo....Just not willing to talk about this problem......My God If way could get these So Called Christians and Churches to be more on the fore front on this....What a difference this could make.....But Sex and HIV.....HELL even Diabetes isnt even talked about...........Time for Folks to wake up and Accept whats happening....Make a change by EDUCATION.........Others as well as ourselves................

I couldn't agree more JagGrad. Unfortunately, some people think ignorance is bliss. :shame: We need our churches and social orgainizations (many of them do) to take a stance on this and help with educating folks about this issue and others.

When my sister told us she had HIV, my parents asked her was she still dating, and she said yes, and immediately my dad told her that she better tell people, and she said she was.

Well this past Thanksgiving my dad put her to the test, she bought her boyfriend home with her, and after the introductions, my dad asked him "do you know that my daughter has HIV?" the guy said yes, and my dad said OK, what's happening?

So yes, if I knew somebody close to me had it, and didn't tell the person their dealing with that they had it, I would step in and tell them. As usual, my dad has set an example within our family, that I will follow. If my dad can put my sisters boyfriend on notice, who is a friend that I can't do the same.

NICE

Nice, Sr. is a M-A-N-E! And Junior Boy ain't too bad either! :swink:

I admire your Dad's demand and your sister's actions.

If you've ever heard my Soror, Rae Lewis Thornton, speak nationwide, you've heard her stories of how she'll tell men she has full blown AIDS, not just HIV+ and they(notice the plurality) are STILL willing to have sex with her WITHOUT a condom. She's says she's only practiced celibacy the last few years, but she was always upfront about her condition. If they were willing to have sex with her without a condom, she said she terminated the relationship immediately because he didn't care about his own life and likely wouldn't be the kind of man she needed in her life to stick with her through the good and the bad. It's very saddening. :(

I understand that all women aren?t becoming HIV infected by bi-sexual brothers, but I still ain?t supporting them cowards. No if ands or buts about it, if you sleep with another man then sleep with your wife/girl friend you are a punk. I can?t speak for everyone, but I can honestly say if some cat did that to my sister or daughter (If I had one) that punk would be swimming with the fishes. Now that is a fact. It?s like my pops always told me and I?m going to raise my son with the same belief (If I ever have one) that sometimes you can let stuff slide, sometimes you don?t have a choice but to kick a persons azz!!!

CEE, I live by that motto in bold...sometimes you've just gotta do it. Turning the other cheek ain't quite one of my fortes, ya know...pray for me, hea?

Very good info. To many times we want to point the finger at "that group over there" when we need to be mindful of those right there in our midst.

AMEN, walls...

Me....Being a Young Christian Man here......Church is the focal point in the Black Community...This is such a great tool for Education and/or Prevention........Faith-Based Initiatives have been put in place in Baton Rouge....however, not visibly Implemented....

Very true...the church is afraid of this topic, for some reason...it's taboo to them. hell, have they ever thought about all the folks that are infected right there, in the church?

Heard Rae Thornton speak before and she speaks the truth!!!

Thanks for the kind words family, believe me they are appreciated.

Cee Dog, I tell ya twin, we're more alike than you know. Our dad's must have been cut from the same cloth.

NICE

I hate to say it but the cleaner your are the less some folks want to fool with you.....why is that? who knows

What do you mean by that? I think clean is good. Since when did clean become bad?

When people are upfront and honest from jump, it shows respect and one doesn't waste a lot of time when they could have chosen other avenues.

You've never head people say this?

I've heard men and some women say this line for quite some time...

A. Alot will prefer a freak now while single but want someone who's extra clean when it's time to marry (especially men)

Man im late to the party and dont feel like reading all of this. somebody just tell me...

Does sweets have the HIV? Did he sleep with any of the chicks on here while knowing he had it?

I know some of yall got my phone number. This kind of news deserves a phone call. I mean got dayum.

Alright I went and read anyway. Heres my $.02. Sweets is innocent until proven guilty. But it seems to me that the email if authenticated is pretty damning evidence.

Some people could be *hores at time. They would sleep with any and everybody, and think just because they have protection that they won't catch anything. You can still catch it. They have people who have that, and don't care if you die, because they already know they will. They wouldn't say a d@mn thing until after ya'll are finish. I pray for the folks (men and women) who have it, and wish they didn't because of some nasty folks who wants to run around and screw everybody.

Food for thought!

This is true...condoms are not 100% BUT according the e-mail (and reading between the lines), he was not trying to hurt her, he just didn't tell her. It appears that she does not have it so he was obviously protected with her. Now if he was raw dogging her.... :smh:

**** he STILL should have told her.

I know that I'm late posting on this subject, but I hope DSN doesn't have HIV or knowingly passed the virus on to someone else. Who said he had HIV anyway?

It's not just DSN, it's other people also. They are going to soon learn a lesson!

I've heard her speak back in '97 with my chapter's Project Alpha Program. I also had an oppurtunity to talk to afterwards and she was very candid about her feelings on how she felt about sex with her husband at the time.

Yes I would. Black folks got enough problems of our own to be damn destroying each other over a disease. It's sad that black women are the highest reported cases of this disease in our community because of all this down low mess because these punks can't be truthful and tell these women they gay.

Incorrect buddy. The women would still get it even if the men did tell them and truthful that they bi (it does exist no matter how much the double standard states) or gay. The women have much to blame for their contracting of this disease as the men who contract the disease. Woman need to stop being naive and thinking and acting powerless with respect to sex and their own health. Ladies are supposed to both hold the key to what's between them thighs and are be the sharpest in having good judgement. If you give it up without knowledge, you are playing Russion Roulette. Hey unless you know the person you're with is an angel in this regard, don't even think about not making sure that you have protection and USING it.

The point, if you don't KNOW the status and the man or woman you're with (cause women can git it from other women and pass it on to men) and they propose having sex, INSIST on having a condom in use. If the man or woman protests, the night ends. If more women did this this disease would be in check on their end.

Better still, Black people, I hate to say it, are AFRAID to know if they have HIV or AIDS, so they won't get tested and that's part of the spread. Until we as a people start to get out of the boxes, out of the caves and out from under the rocks we put ourselves in when it comes to sexual matters as this or anything that's taboo, this disease will STILL be on control. A lot of stigmas with this disease are so strong that it makes no sense. People need to know what it is and most importantly what it's NOT.

Get tested, either alone or together to insure that you know you DON'T have it, and not be like these fools who walk around not know what they have and spreading it.

Man, I'm over here tripping off the idea of DSN passing the gift on to someone else. I can't believe this!
