Lets see how bright Obama really is

If he allows himself and the dems to get caught up in this drama, he is not to bright. If the house reps want to shut down the government, let them. My betting is that he will engage this non sense and end up getting the blame. :scared: That worked so well for them last time, I am sure he cant resist getting involved. Ask Newt.

House Republicans challenge Obama on debt limit

By DAVID ESPO and ANDREW TAYLOR, Associated Press David Espo And Andrew Taylor, Associated Press – Thu Jan 6, 11:10 pm ET

WASHINGTON – In power scarcely a day, House Republicans bluntly told the White House on Thursday its request to raise the nation's $14.3 trillion debt limit will require federal spending cuts to win their approval, laying down an early marker in a new era of divided government.

Speaker John Boehner made the challenge as the new GOP majority voted to cut funding for House members' own offices and committee operations by $35 million. Rank and file Republicans described that vote as a mere down payment on a much more ambitious assault on record federal deficits.

"It's not massive," first-term Rep. Cory Gardner, R-Colo., said of Thursday's cut. "But it is monumental."

At a news conference, Boehner, R-Ohio, also said emphatically he was standing by a pre-election pledge to cut government spending by at least $100 billion this year. "No ifs, ands or buts about it," he said, despite recent comments from other Republicans the total might be overly ambitious.

I am a republican, but I dont follow anyone blindly.

I am a fiscal conservative.

There is only one living politician that I truly respect and that's Nelson Mandella.

Well I am a Democrat and I don't follow anyone blindly either. But I know bullshyt when I see it, and the Republicans are full of it.

We keep waiting on the politicians to rescue us, but it starts from the bottom up. I'm training my boys to be leaders no matter what resources they have to work with so they won't make excuses growing up. My 5th grader is a good basketball player, I monitor his grades online and if his grades slip to too many B's then we dial back basketball practice and tv. My kindergartner reads on a second - third grade level and even though he can almost hit a 3 point shot on a 10 foot goal, I praise him more for being up to his 3's on his times tables. We have to do better in our country to be producers and not just consumers. My father in law works as a merchant seaman and it's scary how he tells me that ships from China come here full and what we send them is half as much, then I read that China has a stealth fighter plane now, wow. We are quickly funding China to kick our arse via the China Soveirgn fund and our uneven trade. We reward companies to move jobs overseas and keep the profits that's why I'm teaching my boys to work with little to produce a lot because they will have less resources and available jobs as they get older. None of those politicians will help us because they all on the take lobbyists work both sides of the aisle.

We are well on our way to second world nation status. Politicians are playing games with people to hide the facts.

China is the least of our worries. All I can say you need to go visit that place multiple times and you will see they aint a military threat. They want to be us...lol. Also they are about to feel their economic bubble as well. They are living too high off the hog like we were. They are no longer a low cost country and no one will be running over there in droves to manufacture there like they did a few years back. Actually Asia companies are now looking at US cities to build in now. Their workers have gotten wise especially the ones in the bigger China cities. It is expensive over there and they are driving up cost to manufacture now. Look for the US to grow manufacturing jobs in the near future. Funny how things work. The US braintrust that actually run this country aint stupid as folks think. The politcians are not the ones who really run the U.S.
