Rraaaaaa Anony, I was being sarcastic very true. But, I was ALSO being VERY honest! That part about them <b>"finally doing the job they're paid to do"</b> is very true. GUD, you have to encourage people so I'm trying my BEST to live by that creed. Even when they <b>habitually</b> do wrong or are inept, you have to encourage lil' johnny. :retard:

I really don't understand why this behavior by a <b>paid entity</b> is accepted. Must be a black thing huh?

They updated the front page...but the inside pages is as old as rotting fish....:dead:

Take a look at the links for each of the SWAC schools....the most current entry is dated 24 August 2006

:xeye:

Sad...just sad....

:shame:

Serious questions. And I won't use sarcasm.

1. Who or what entity in the SWAC office is responsible for the SWAC official website maintenance/upkeep?

2. What dept does that fall under? Marketing? IT? ~snicker~

3. How much is being spent yearly for website maintenance/upkeep?

4. Are there guidelines in place for ensuring/validating conference data (announcements regarding clinics, happenings on each campus, etc)?

More questions could follow but I thought it best to stop @ 4 since those few would probably cause conference office overload. :emlaugh: :bawling:

I'm willing to bet they probably spend $7k-15k per year. A good website is anywhere from $50k-$100k.

A website costs as much as a car. The range of options and costs associated with buying a car are actually a very good comparison to the cost of a website. It's possible to buy a decent used car for under $5,000 that should be perfectly adequate to get you where you need to go. Similarly, buying a new car can run the gamut from a bare bones Kia Rio for under $10,000 to a high end Porsche 911 for $80,000 plus. Beyond the desired car's look and style, there are many other considerations that will affect its cost like how many people fit in, how fast it goes, what options are included, etc. This month's newsletter is intended to provide a rough framework of how Newfangled approaches project pricing. It looks at the major factors that we consider when creating a budget.

There are several ways to build and maintain a quality website. One way is by mandating each school give $10k toward the conference website. Another way is by bringing all 10 schools to one business as a package deal and getting a top of the line conference website free. I'm sure you guys can think of some innovative ways as well.

So you are going to pay one person $100,000 to maintain a Web site? That's wasting money. If major newspapers can employ just one person to run their Web site, why do SWAC schools have to spend 10k? All you have to do is hire at least one person to get the scores and news and another to update the sight.

It's painfully obvious that IT IS NOT WORKING!!!!

HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!! :retard:

$100K for a website? LOL.....that's a little overboard...I assume that site can update itself without hesitation and would require no maintenance and state of the art functions rarely any of us hardcore fans will utilize

How would that look if a school spends $10K to the SWAC for a site when they can't get one themselves? We already pay them for the right to join...

Would $10k break the university? If so then it would be pretty emabarrassing and they should be ashamed. Its also a shame that 10 schools who pay for the right to join would allow the conference to treat them like siht.

Doesn't the conference have it's own operating budget?? Why should the schools have to contribute to site maintenance?

Unfortunately, it is because we, as fans, believe our institutions and our conference affiliation have more capital asset base, generate a larger amount of revenue and the operations is less difficult and cumbersome than we give credence too and we really want to admit too along with the fact that our institutions have not had the ability to generate such capital to level the playing field.

We tend to measure the ineffectiveness of our institutions against our daily profession of practice and expertise that generally operates under a different level of capital expenditures and organizational system theory approach. Not to mention the fact that it involves a vehicle that is consider secondary in nature by a governing body of leadership in the overall operation of an institution of higher learning and our alumni base does not have the capital in assets nor public policy forum to directly influence systematic change.

This is not an excuse for the inability to work with-in a given domain or dysfunction, but is in an effort to provide greater in sight in to the overall difficulty involved in the business of athletics in the system theory in which we operate.
