Here we go with this again. Without even reading all that mess I know that JR is writing that ice was colder and water was wetter back in the day.

The fact is the NBA changed its rules and coddled Jordan. Jordan was DavidSterns guy. He was the most marketable person in the league so there was noway Stern was going to let Jordan lose. As soon as the ball came across the timeline the refs were ready to blow the whistle. Thats why I couldn't stand watching the NBA at the time. They should have changed the name from NBA to WJSF Watch Jordan Shoot Freethrows ...that's exactly what you were going to do.

The Bulls were good but the rest of the NBA was terrible during Jordans reign. Remember the NBA expanded to Vancouver Charlotte Miami and Toronto. That diluted the talent and spreaded it across the league making teams weaker. How much better would Indiana have been with AlonzoMourning at center? Where would Cleveland be with LarryJohnson at power forward instead of being on bad expansion teams?

And JR ....the talent is much better today than the 80s. These kids play AAU basketball from preteen to college. All we did was play streetball until we went to college. The skill level is much better now than ever before. There are stars all over the league so DavidStern doesn't have to engineer outcomes like he did for Jordan.

I was listening to John Salley on Fox Sports Radio last year talking about his days as Piston. He told the story of how the team knew that Stern was making Jordan the face of the league back in the late 80s and early 90s. And they didn't like it.

So, that was part of the reason why they became the Bad Boys. To be the antithesis of what Jordan was or what he was developed to be. And that's why they tried to punish him every time the two teams met.

Today there are great players all over the league on every coast. Kobe ChrisPaul Howard LeBron DWade Melo KevinDurant Dirk and in and on. You can stick a microphone to their face and not have to cover your ears until they finish. Jordan was the only show I'm town and DavidStern made sure we were going to watch it. Barkley was good back then but that idiotic still can't talk.

The NBA was so bad in the mid 90s that during Jordans 2 years suspension 6th place Houston won the title twice. Hell the bulls went to the eastern conference finals and still should've won the championship. Either the NBA was bad or the bulls were good without Jordan. Take your pick.

Jordan heads will never admit that dude got mad favoritism. I was super anti-Jordan while he played. It was sickening, watching him get all those foul calls.

I will admit he got away with a lot of calls. I was more of a Dominique fan than MJ, but the thing is, Fratello was a garbage coach and Nique didn't have the supporting cast nor the coach that MJ did. But I digress...

Nah... Name 20 and 20 from one particular year in each era, or a 5 year period from each era. I've seen many cats try to name players but end up naming players over a 20 year period to compare with one year in the present era, instead of a single set of years.

Hell, here is a link of all the NBA all star teams. Just compare and look at how many better players were playing during the era from 90-95 vs the last 5 years. Even with veteran overlap. Those teams in their prime would whoop these guys now. One thing, you had no centers. Does anyone really believe D Howard and Bynum could stop Dream, Ewing, Mourning, Mutombo (although he was defense only), David Robinson and a young Shaq then?

James Worthy could stop Durant. JW was fast as hell and a good defensive player. Plus he had the quick first step to the basket and filled the lane better than any combo forward I have ever seen. 6'9 with a big wingspan. Big Game James was no joke. How dare you pull out Kiki Vandeweghe. LOL. Dude was real old school. He could shoot though. Mofos would have a hard time stopping him offensively. LOL.

The NBA doesn't even play at the same pace they did back in the day. They used to run up and down the court before the late 80s came and they started letting mofos kill you coming through the paint. DRose would have gotten crumpled up on the floor by Charles Oakley or some fool and been out for the season just like he is now.

Tim was extremely quick with that killer crossover. The difference is that Rose is 6'3 and just as fast. John Wall is 6'4 and faster. I would love to see that matchup though.

I think Dwight Howard could be easily defended by the elite centers of the 80s and 90s because he doesn't have an assortment of post moves. Nobody would have an answer for LeBron. I don't care what era he played in. Plus, LeBron can defend all five positions.

LeBron's a great defensive player, but he can't defend all 5 positions. He isn't defending any 4 or 5 with an actual post game. He was drained after banging with David West, who's undersized at power forward.

DRose, Westbrook and other guards would get to the rim with ease on them slow old farts. You have guys like Dirk,Bosh,Gasol and etc that can stretch the floor to get the guys out the paint.

Let me rephrase that: LeBron can defend all five positions depending on the player at that position and what stage of the game it is. Yeah, LeBron did admit he was gassed after defending West. But some of that also has to do with him playing more than 40 minutes and then chasing around Danny Granger. Not to mention the responsibility he has on the offensive end.
