Larry Bird says NBA needs more white superstars

1. Is this really any different that complaining about lack of black quarterbacks?

2. As stated before I see plenty of white people on TV at the NBA games. I fail to see the need for more white players to boost support that is not lacking from whites.

I guess question would be sho do you see filling the stands? I don't see a whole lot of black folks filling the seats.

Heck, IMO, the only reason why Bob Johnson got that team was Charlotte (like Cleveland when they let the Browns move to Baltimore and become the Ravens) were desparate for a pro team and Bob Johnson and Co. came up with enough dough to make it happen...Wasn't a group with Larry Bird trying to bid on it too.....It was a matter of convenience for the NBA to show they wanted black owners along with the desparation of a city that initially balked at a taxpayer-funded arena (which they are now building, thank ya very much)...Would you think the NBA really would've preferred having an exmapnsion team owned by one of its 50 greatest players or Bob Johnson? Johnson getting that team, as I said a second early, was a matter of convenience.

If the NBA was sooo receptive to Bob Johnson, why weren't they to Isaiah Thomas when he wanted majority interest of the Raptors...why MJ was ran out of Washington by Abe Pollian like he embezzled funds...Why Magic (worth about $500 million or more) hasn't been heard of trying to get a bigger chunk of a team rather than the 5-10 percent of the Lakers Dr. Jerry Buss let him keep?

First off, Bob is not an athelete turn millionaire, he is a businessman turned BILLIONAIRE. Bob is only 1 or 3 black Billionaire individuals in North America. Owning an NBA team has nothing to do with basketball, its all about business. Bob was able to prove he could make his NBA team make money for the NBA more so than anyone else. I'm sure his capital behind his name had something to do with it.

Man Larry Bird wasn't doing anymore than talking with the fellas (his peers) like any athlete does and the new crew coming up. We got way more serious issues to deal with besides worrying about what Larry Bird said. (which wasn't isht) Quite frankly I think he's earn the right to say whatever the hell he wants to concerning basketball.

Just like black folks like to see black athletes succeed and hispanics like to see hispanic athletes succeed, why would it not make sense that whites want to see doing good? What he's saying is a no brainer.

We don't need to be making a mountain out of a mole hill. What he said was not racist by any means. It was nothing different than what "we" do when talking about the # of black baseball players, or more black head coaches. I applaud Larry for speaking his mind and in some regards agree with what he said.

I have noticed that too. I don't see a lot of black folks filling the seats at NBA games, or NFL games, MLB games. Black folks don't fill the seats at D-1 college football games. Hell, we don't even fill the seats at our own HBCUs. Come to think of it we hardly fill the seats in anything.
