Larry Bird or Lebron James?

Have you seen the scrubs on these sad teams like Milwaukee? I am sure a young Skiles and Rambis could start on these horrible teams in the NBA that do nothing on a year to year basis. Rambis is better than that stiff Cleveland drafted in the lottery last year. LOL.

Skiles would have ate your lunch coming out of Michigan State. LOL. Dude was nice. If JJ Reddick can stay in the league. So could Skiles. Rambis would have elbowed you in the head frat. Those days in the NBA were hard core. Power forwards were POWER Forwards and not tweeners or skinny cats playing the 4. Everybody had a David West type at PF.

Also back then guys were happy to just be playing in the NBA not like today in which places Sacramento, Milwaukee, Cleveland and Minnesota are seen as "non-attractive" destinations (thank you ESPN). Heck places like Memphis, Golden State, Charlotte and OKC had to be built into attractive destinations for top talent to want to play there.

I'm not saying that Lebron couldn't have played back then but he would have earned his lumps like Jordan did or quit

BTW I get mad every time I see Laetner in a Dream Team pic

I believe Lebron would have done well eventually. A lot of those other guys that they think are good (and allstars) wouldn't have though. They are way too soft and their nerves would have been stolen.

Laetner in that picture get on my nerves too. I believe he came out the same year with Shaq also. :smh:  :emlaugh:

I give the nod to the Dream Team for two reasons. The consistent scoring and defense. Then again that Dream team didn't worry about guys like Lebron and Kobe flying around to contest shots.....

Yeah but Kobe and Lebron would have to worry about MJ and Pippen doing the same. Clyde didn't play defense that much. But he was another high flyer to worry about. Then old Mullen and Bird would pull you out of the paint but still would post you up. Magic too. Karl Malone would be a matchup issue as well. So it would go both ways.

Chris Mullins though? I give Stockton his due but Hornacheck, Dan Majerle and company are lucky they came into the league when they did.

Please. Dan Marjerle was more athletic than a ton of NBA players. Pop would find a place for him. He wasn't Thunder Dan for nothing. There are current brothers in the league that don't have the talent that Dan had in his prime. Hornacek could flat shoot and he was a heady player. He was better than most of these Euros that are playing in the league.

JThere are simply more tall, big and athletic defenders playing in today's game.
That shouldn't be used as a knock/strike against players of yesteryear. Of course, they are stronger, faster, taller, etc. in today's game. So, its easy to say player X couldn't make it in today's game. IMO, Its more accurate to judge the player by whatever era he played in and not try to imagine the what ifs.
Bird in his era was much more clutch than Lebron is at this point.
I know its only one game (actually truth be told, this was the first NBA game I've watched from start to finish in a long time), but it's no way I can imagine Bird (in his heyday) having as awful showing as Lebron did last night. Again, last night, if a player of Lance Stephenson's ilk had pulled the stunts he did, Bird, Jordan, etc would have royally lit his arse up. Lebron, on the other hand, finished with 7 points. And 3, count 'em 3, 4th quarter air balls. :retard:

Once in a lifetime my ass!

I what I've placed in bold font is exactly my point. Thanks bruh!

LeBron hater I see. Most agree that LeBron, once he retires, will be consider one, if not the greatest player to ever play. So yes, that is a once in a lifetime player. He will probably have more points, MVPs, and championships than Jordan, Magic, and Kobe.

In my lifetime I've seen Magic, Bird, Jordan, Dr. J, Kareem, Shaq, Kobe and LeBron.

There are no "once in a lifetime" players.

actually, I don't hate Lebron. I've posted that. Truth be told, I hated Bird when he played. But that doesn't mean I didn't respect him as a great player.

as for this "most agree" that Lebron will be considered the greatest is a bunch of crock. Right now, do "most" even agree that Lebron is the best of his era? :scaredL

You're kidding right??? Please tell me you are. Dude has Four MVPs already and counting. That's more then Kobe, Durant, and Shaq combined.

I didn't like Bird or the Celtics either..........But I have much respect for his game.

That's how I feel about Kobe. Don't care for him as a person but you can't help but respect his game (although that's taking a hit because of that albatross contract that will keep the Lakers from contending for two years). Kobe's prime included 2 rings without Shaq (3 with of course but both were alpha dogs 1 and 1a) and a lot of playoff runs.

People can dismiss it all that way but Lebron's prime right now includes quitting against Boston, that sweeping in the Finals and Jason Terry getting in his head in his first year in Miami. As much as I can't stand Kobe, no way Jason Terry would get in his head like that or get swept out of the Finals.

4 straight Finals would be a great resume builder if they can pull it off

And none of them are named "Scottie" or "Pippen".

Scottie would 'D' that slow white boy up and then come down the court and dunk on his azz. Ask Travis Best and Patrick Ewing about it. Name one player Bird ever shutdown or dunked on. During the Bulls last run with Jordan and Pippen they faced the Indiana Pacers in the East Finals. Mark Jackson was coming off the best two playoff series of his career and was even being talked about as a possible playoff MVP. Phil Jackson put Pippen on Mark Jackson and he completely shut that mofo down. To this day that was greatest one-on-one defensive performance in the history of the NBA. Damn small forward completely shutdown a top all-star point guard. If I'm not mistaken Bird was the coach of the Pacers and was batching the entire series about Pippen being to physical. Give me Pippen any day of the week over Bird.

exactly. It's no secret on here how much I hate kobe. But bane is kidding himself if he thinks "most" would dismiss Kobe as the "once in a life....errr, I mean, generation" player of this current era in favor of Lebron.

Travis Best and Mark Jackson? OK.

Bird dunked on a lot of players. Heck so has Gerald Green but what does that matter?

If Kevin Love can average 26 points a game, I don't see how Bird would struggle in today's NBA.

Kevin Love is a power forward in a weak big man league. That's why it's sickening to watch Dwight Howard play. Bird wasn't the power forward, Kevin McHale was. Bird would struggle with the small forwards because they are too quick and athletic.

LeBron has already surpassed Kobe bruh. That's why he has four MVPs while Kobe was still playing at a high level. You didn't know. KD had to have an extridanery year to stop LeBron from winning his fifth MVP.
