It was begin finally confirmed that the 2007 MEAC-SWAC Challenge will be played on Sunday Sept 2, 2007 at 2pm...

SU vs FAMU........

http://www.meacswacchallenge.com/

Then at 6pm....Miles College vs Tuskegee at 6pm

BOTH games at Legion Field ....Birmingham, AL

Good football Double header.....
Bad for the bands.............

That means for the 5th Quarter.........5 and out????????
for SU Human Jukebox and FU Marching 100  :upset:

Thanks for the update, 1st Sgt!

BTW, it won't even take 5 songs to get the point across, IMHO....

LB, if our game is at 2 and the next at 6 pm then I don't think the bands will have much of a chance to battle after the game. I don't really like this double header crap. I would rather play on Saturday Night instead but ESPN is drving the game time. So be prepared to be ushered out of Legion Field soon as the clock strikes zero.

You are not kidding!!!!!!!
It should have been left as being played on Saturday!!!!!!!

I also noticed that in 2005 MEAC-SWAC there was a Battle of the Bands...

Last year when I was at the 2006 MEAC-SWAC Challenge...
It was a step show and a QUICK drumline battle between Grambling and Hampton.

I still think that there is still time for both Band Directors of SU and FU to contact the committee and half a Battle of the Bands added for that Saturday night!!!!!!!

I am trying to figure out why the heck is SU and FAMU playing at 2 and Miles and Tuskegee playing at 6. I think that the teams need to swap times IMHO

Miles has rights to that time slot with Legion Field. The Meac and Swac Challenge is usually on the Saturday. But since ESPN has a prior TV contract conflict with NASCAR for that Saturday so they asked to move the game to Sunday to keep us televised. We can't make Miles give up their time slot on Sunday. I think ESPN and the MEAC/SWAC had to get Miles agreement for us even to play on Sunday before their game. I aint feeling 2 pm on a Sunday. But I will be there. It is what it is. Now if only some smart sponsors/promoters would have a battle of the bands between FAMU and SU on that Saturday at Legion Field. That would be sweet. Hell they can have the local HS bands or so come in to compete earlier and then let FAMU and SU go at it. In the stands and on the field. That would be a nice deal and possible money maker.

Yeah 1:30pm but now they are saying 2pm. :smh: lol at the pregame part. They could have had a battle of the band at the BJCC. They did in 2005!

I know I already know the answer to this question, but I'mma ask it anyway....

You can't buy alcohol on Sundays in Alabama, can ya???

:shame:

I think a Sunday double-header hurts the SU/FAMU crowd, more than it helps the Miles/TU crowd. No band battle. And because it's on a Sunday, the after-game parties won't be as crunk as they would've be due to the Liquor store not being open....

Well, I was planning on going (and still might)... But oh well....

:(

Yeah..I saw the history...

But in 2006 they did a Step step/ Drumline challenge....which DID NOT start till 8pm :angry::angry:

Not that many people showed up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! because they focused more on the step show.......

Thats the time slot provided by ESPNU for the game to be televised, only good thing about the sunday game is that will be the only game on tv. But the bands are gonna have to play during the game, and pre-game.

Or combine the two like the Bayou Classic...Step show first then BOTB.

Birmingham and Huntsville are the only cities in Alabama where you can buy alcohol on Sundays... Birmingham has been like that, Huntsville changed about 2 years ago. Matter of fact ,,,,, Xhale you remember when we went to that BOTB in Birmingham.. and after the BOTB we saw Miles head dm in the liquor store with his uniform on..... that was on a Sunday.
