LA. Gov. Blanco will not seek Re-Election

She knew, along with the President of the United States how devastating this Hurricane was going to be. Why, because the Air Force had already flown Recon flights through the storm and rated it. She knew this because she flew over in a helicopter. Yet never made a phone call or landed and said let those people free. What individuals in my situation hate most, is someone who clearly lies to save face.

Bush lied to save face, and Blanco lied to save face for a political agenda that truly was not an agenda but a got damn wish.

Please tell us how you really feel. LMAO I think she really knew it was no way in hades that she would get reelected. This is a way to keep her from that embarrasement.

Due to my current job status with the State, I'm not saying NOTHING until November on this matter. All I know my trip to Houston has been cancelled due to all of this! "DSN WELCOME TO LOUISIANA POLITICS"! Look for the next Govenor of Louisiana to throw his hat into the ring in the next few days/weeks. DSN you had me looking to see if they changed the name from the Ernest "Dutch" Morial Convention Center to the Marc Morial Convention Center.

Man no lie...each time I think of Morial...I think of Marc. So that was a hiccup on my part. My bad...

Like here in DC people say they are going to DDOT...Distrct Dept. of Trans...but the name of the building is the Reeves Centers which houses a whole lot more...

DSN doesn't need a welcome to Louisiana Politics....man they need to have a minor in Louisiana Politics at every college and university because that mess is unreal!!!!!

From what I've read, and heard, even before Breaux started publicly talking about running for governor, Blanco didn't have much of a chance of getting re-elected. At least now, if Breaux is allowed to run (if he clears up his residency issue's) Bobby Jindal doesn't look like the lock to win, like he looked before Breaux's name came up.

I know Blanco would've had a hard time getting votes in Orleans, St. Tammany, Jefferson, St. Bernard, Plaquemine, and the other New Olreans suburban river parish's, because of the way she handled Katrina, and to a lesser note, and on a much smaller scale, the situation with the Saints.

Some of you may not think the Saints thing is that big of a deal, but before Katrina hit, and word got out that she wasn't going to pay Benson the money that he, and Mike Foster agreed upon, she couldn't catch a break in the Greater New Orleans Metro area.

And I already thought the next Governor of LA has announced he's running for the office? Word on the street is (and I can't believe I'm saying this) but Jindal might win it.

In order to run for governor of LA, a person has to have maintained a residence in LA for 5 years, and though Breaux was a LA senator, and is from the state, his current state of residence, and voting priviledges lie in the state of Maryland, and that's the hangup, and what the Republicans are throwing out there.

Like you, I think he'll have that fixed, because I know he still has a home in LA, but we'll see how it plays out.

DSN, man those people in Orleans, and the surrounding parish's were hot, when it looked like Benson was going to move the team because she didn't want to pay the inducements, and trying to force him to renegotiate....all the talk on talk radio, and different NO internet forums wasn't good when it came to her re-election bid because of that very issue.

It didn't matter how much money she saved the state, improved the educational system, or how much she improved the quality of life in general (not that she did) for the citiizens of that area of the state, but she was messing with the Saints, and that's a political no-no in those parts pottna......and now seeing how bad her Road Home Program is, the Saints are the only thing a lot of those people can hang their hats on, and she would've lost those votes for sure.

IMHO...this residence issue with Breaux will tell the tale. I don't see him getting out of this one...but...one never knows these days.

Samething I ask. Jindal had a plan and course of action during that last election. I remember working with him while he was over Urban Development (not sure if that was the agency...my memory is messing with me right now), but he was a brilliant young man.

He was actually featured as a USA Today Top Scholar when my cousin was on the Cover of USA Today as The Nations Top Scholar.

Right. The Mrs. worked with Jindals' mother at the Dept of Labor. From what she tells me the apple never falls far from the tree. When he made the run off for Gov., we actually got a chance to listen to his plans for a better Louisiana and I don't know how she voted, but I voted for him.
