Kobe a keeper; Shaq expendable


Shaq's game got holes in it now that's beginning to offset his offensive production. The Lakers will be a better team without the triangle offense, which was proven during that run that claimed the Pacific title. Shaq ain't going anywhere because his contract makes it difficult for any team to put together a trade that makes sense. Plus.....Dr. Buss ain't paying Shaq peanuts. If Karl is healthy he'll be back and where is Gary Payton going to make 5.4 million. I won't lose any sleep over losing D. Fisher like I did over Robert Horry, but he'll be back.

For all you Kobe haters....he's the only one that's not being shop around. Steve Francis, T-Mac, A. Iverson, and Shaq can't say that.

WHY HAS THIS THREAD GONE ON SOOOOO LONG. I'VE SAT HERE AND READ ALL OF THESE ARGUMENTS FOR SHAQ AND KOBE. BOTH HAVE GOOD POINTS AND BOTH HAVE THEIR FLAWS AS WELL. I AM NOT A BIG FAN OF KOBE, BECAUSE HE DOES NOT UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPT OF THE TERM TEAM. AT TIMES HE REMINDS ME OF THE LITTLE KID FROM THE PAYTON AND GARNETT COMMERCIAL FOR NIKE. "...he won't even let the ground touch the ball...", BUT EVEN WITH THAT HE IS A GOOD BALL PLAYER.

THE ONE REASON THAT HE NOT BEING SHOPPED AROUND AND THOSE OTHERS ARE (T-MAC, STEVIE FRANCHISE, AI) IS BECAUSE THE LAKERS DON'T HAVE TO MAKE DRASTIC MOVES TO BECOME A TITLE CONTENDER. THE ONLY REASON SHAQ IS BEING SHOPPED IS ONLY TO HONOR HIS REQUEST.

NOW TO THE BUSINESS OF SHAQ AND KOBE. A 32 YEAR OLD SHAQ IS STILL THE MOST DOMINANT BIG MAN IN THE LEAGUE. HANDS DOWN. TO WHO EVER MADE THE COMMENT ABOUT HIM ONLY BEING A THREAT AROUND THE BASKET. WHY SHOULD HE DO ANYTHING ELSE? WHO IS GOING TO STOP HIM FROM GETTING TO THE BLOCKS? NOONE. IF HE IS TAKING JUMPERS AWAY FROM THE GOAL OR TRYING TO PLAY FACING THE BASKET, HE IS NOT PUTTING HIS TEAM IN A POSITION TO WIN.

I SAY DUNK ON THEM, DUNK ON ALL OF THEM!!!!

YOU HAVE TO HAVE AN INSIDE PRESENCE TO WIN, AND SHAQ IS ALREADY THERE. I SAY SHOP KOBE AROUND, GET SOME QUALITY GUARDS AND SWINGMEN FOR HIM AND GET SET TO RECLAIM THE TITLE

With this deal and all the Mavs will be is just another 76ers, Magic. If the Mavs would play defense and be less perimeter based, they can make a run at the West (mind you that is two big ifs).
 
This deal would make the LAKERS another no defense playing, jump shooting team.................. just like Dallas was the last 4 years. :slap:
