A video circulating on social media, which has now been viewed more than 5 million times, captured the incident, showing Blake being shot at close range as he attempted to enter a vehicle.

On Monday, the Wisconsin Department of Justice released a statement saying the shooting occurred as Kenosha officers were responding to a reported domestic incident. It is unclear who was involved in the domestic dispute and how Blake is connected to it. And available video offers little evidence about what took place in the minutes before the shooting. Blake was taken to a Milwaukee hospital, where he remained in serious condition Monday.

The officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave. The state Justice Department is leading an investigation into the incident alongside Wisconsin State Patrol and the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office. The state DOJ says it will submit its findings to a prosecutor within 30 days, who will determine whether to press any charges.

Blacks are the only race not allowed to be emotional without fear of punishment from personal loss to job loss all the up to death. We are forced to bury our feelings so deep that when they do come loose they explode!

Same thing during slavery

You can protest, you can riot, you can do what you want but anything other than an eye for an eye mentality with cops aint gonna work. Now if they killed someone and had to worry about BEING killed as a result of it I bet it'd grind to a halt.

I am probably gonna get ran off this board for saying this, and if I do, then so be it. Hell, if looting and rioting was the answer we would have solved all of our problems a long time ago. An "eye for an eye" mentality? I really think that is something we need to look into. I know, that requires planning and organization. Look, all I am saying is we need to try something else. I wish I had the answer.

So now a vigilante has killed 2 people while the police were present and didnt even make an arrest. Same team. Yall can keep protesting and burning shit if you want to. That's basically bringing a knife to a gunfight. We are out armed. Until folks get serious about addressing that then im not interested in marching.

I have an answer but will not discuss it publicly

Officers need to be held accountable with jail time and their finances. When police officers, instead of tax payers, have to pay for what they do it will make a huge difference. We are paying over a billion dollars in civil suits, while the officers just get to go to another job.

We have to end qualified immunity. That is a must.

They will continue to do this until there are actual consequences for their actions.

That's why defeating tRump now is critical. Stacking the judicial system with conservative judges only emboldens these people because they know their chances of getting off are greater. Four more years of this will be devastating.

The likelihood of qualified immunity ending under a new administration is very remote. That's not going to happen. Trump and his underlings have already planted the seed that Biden supports defunding the police. Biden, though, has pushed back, saying that he wants to support police -- even going so far as to want to financially invest more in law enforcement. Kamala Harris, with her background, isn't going after qualified immunity, either.

The mindset is still that the issues with policing can be solved through reform, more training, more bodies on the street, and millions in funding. It's rarely about examining the culture of law enforcement, its racism, its corruption that leads to officers harming civilians.

Qualified immunity won't be under threat because too many believe police are necessary and redeemable despite all their faults.

This is why the vote in local elections is so important. We need to put people in office who will support qualified immunity and if they don't kick them out and get someone who will. One of our major problems is that we don't use our political power correctly. We don't demand enough out of the people who are supposed to be working for us. We listen way too much to what politicians say when they should be listening to us because they represent us. We only owe politicians two things: A vote to keep them in if they do what we want them to do or A vote to get them out if they don't.

In a just and fair world that would be true. But at the local level is where change is going to come. But folks running for offices, particular, aren't going to campaign on holding police accountable. They know they won't win seats that way. DAs aren't going to do it. Judges aren't going to do it. City councilors/aldermen aren't going to do it.

A lot of candidates and incumbents are PROUD to be backed by police unions and police departments. They go out of their way to publicize it. And police union heads know this. The union leader down where I live has tried to bribe candidates running for local offices. And if there is a sense a candidate might be "anti-police," they will throw tons of money at candidates who aren't. Police unions have way too much influence. Many police chiefs and mayors can't even fire bad cops because of union protections. That's why cops continue to shoot people indiscriminately

I can imagine people telling Dr. King and others "the likelihood of segregation ending is very remote".

While true, it's an obvious goal worth fighting for. Along with the end of mass incarceration and for-profit prisons.

It's imperative that we fight for justice regardless of the odds.

The thing is segregation hasn't ended, though. Even with Dr. King's valiant efforts.

We, the public, can fight for the end of qualified immunity. But, an expectation that a presidential administration/candidate is going to do that is not realistic. It just isn't. They will never get in a position to be POTUS if that were to happen.

All this rioting and looting, police shooting? I do not usually cater to conspiracy theories, but I am beginning to think that something deeper is going on here. Somebody is playing "chess". Most of this stuff is happening in "blue" states? And I will leave it at that.

You have whites protesting and throwing molotov cocktails with blacks in numbers never seen before, mostly at night to hide who they really are. I don't know what the whites motives/agenda really are. I doubt if the whites protesting with blacks will stand in solidarity with blacks on election day.
