Ken Griffey

I thought Ken Griffey's career was coming to a close with all the injuries and his poor play but he is showing signs of life. He hit two homeruns today and now has 17. Does anyone remember this guy?

I remember Ken Griffey Jr. The guy has been hurt since he has been in Cincinnati. He is still young so expect some good things from him as long as he stays healty.

Before all those injuries set in, Junior played the game as if he were in a video game. He was killing pitchers and fielding like a mutha. He seems to be getting back into that old form. I hope he stays healthy.

Yeah Griffey was and is a great player and if he stays healthy he could do some great things. Hank Aaron said that if anyone could break his record it's Griffey but that was before he got injured.

Still my favorite baseball player. Injuries in Cincy hurt his performance a lot, and I was pissed at Seattle for getting rid of him in the first place. I need to go check and see how much those 3 Kenn Griffey Jr. rookie cards I have are worth today. $$$ but it's probably down now still.

Seattle did not get rid of him, he ran away from Seattle the same way Johnson and Rodriguez did. They wanted more money and Seattle haven't missed none of them. Johnson is the only one of the three that has a ring to go along with the money.

Hey Fiyah...

I thought when Griffey went back home to Cincy... he actually went there at less than his market value was at the time he left Seattle... a healthy Griffey as a free agent then would've commanded at least a hundred-million-dollar contract if Steinbrenner would've pulled the trigger...

now correct me if i'm wrong, but I read at that time Griffey just wanted to go home

(childhood memories, bear with me)
Before he got hurt all them times... this cat was pluggin in 50-homer seasons... stealing like 20-30 bases... Sportscenter plays of the week catches in center almost on a daily basis.. when I was growing up..I patterned my stance and swing after Griffey's...and he STILL has one of the smoothest strokes in all of baseball

In all actuallity he could have received more money by going to his offseason home and where his wife and kids live in Tampa Bay. He went to Cincy with another thing on his mind. At that time his Dad was a assistant there and he had a undercover deal for his Dad to become manager. But that fell thru when it was leaked out about it and Jr's stock dropped with all the injuries. He is now playing with incentives of his next contract and the possibilty of being traded. He hasn't played this well since his last year in Seattle. Although his batting percentage isn't high, his slugging is getting him there.

I think Griffey and Will Clark, (when he was playing), have the 2 sweetest strokes ever. Both are smooth all the way through the pitch. It don't even look like they swing hard...... batting pratice.

Will the Thrill had a nice swing...but that Bonds guy out there in SF swings it really well and sweet, too.

Aww dang..I forgot about Will "The Thrill"...(how many of y'all remember when he and Rafeal Palmeiro had led Miss. State to the CWS)

I remember one time this guy said Griffey's swing was the best because it allowed him to hit for both average and power..(Fiyah, isn't Griffey like a career .300 or .290 hitter?? I think it's that range)...and he seldom got into hitting slumps....

SIDE NOTE: Until he got hurt all those times, Griffey was the preceived "Great Black Hope" of getting more young African Americans interested in baseball..

(OFF TOPIC) Yeah, that there Bonds cat has a nice stroke, but he's the most feared hitter in the game..I'm willing to wager that more people fear Bonds at the plate (with Randy Johnson/Roger Clemens as exceptions) than basketball players fear playing against Shaq
