I and several of my church members took some high schoolers to several SWAC schools and a few other HBCU's in the south. I can honestly say that when it comes to landscape and campus buildings PVU, JSU and AAMU looked good. The other schools were o.k. but this is what I saw.

PVU has some great buildings they were new or remodeled and the landscape was great. The new apartment style dorms are on point.

JSU has some great buildings and the brick walkway is fantastic. All of their buildings are either brand new or rebuilt. The new union is A+

AAMU great collegiate look and the buildings looked uniformed (same color) and they were clean.

TXU reminds me of JSU, great brick walkway through the center of campus and I love that new wellness center.

Grambling's new apartment complex is top notch and I love the new cafeteria. Great variety of places to eat. Looks like alot is being done to upgrade GSU, good job.

SU's new field house is superior and that blue paint in the front makes it look great, can't wait to see it on game night. I did see alot of renovations going on for several buildings. I like those new student dorms/apartments.

Didnt' make it to Pine Bluff, Alcorn or Valley but I've seen them in the past.

PVU and Grambling really impressed me the most because of all the changes. Of course JSU, my hometown school looks damn good and they are still building new things.

To me Grambling has the most potential to look really good in the near future. SU needs to continue remodeling most of those buildings are old and run down.

What impressed you the most and where do you see the most potential?

Yeah TC GSU is planning to build a new library, we just opened a new music building in May and many other things are planned buildings wise and athletics wise. Grambling has a bright future, thank god we got a President finally that is down to earth and that knows how to get things done, we haven't had one of those in a while.:D

I agree, Stewart (Education and Mass Communication), Seymour(Physical Education), T.T. Allain(Math, Business, Foreign Languages), and Debose(Music) need to be renovated. The dorms were the thing that needed to be addressed first, because old Jones Hall and Boley Hall were horrible for males and females respectively to stay in.

I think Freshmen need horrible dorms to stay in. It is a right of passage. I was sad when JSU renovated Dixon Hall.

Don't remind me...lol.

 That's cold pop.....

We got too many pussified folks as is, SLT. they come to college feeling privileged. I was told by someone when I first got to JSU that "The sooner I recognized that no one here gave a dayum about me but me, the better I would be"

I saw that Right away.. At SU having to walk 3-4 times a day from Jones Hall to the Mini-dome in 100+ degree Temps. due to Financial Aid Issues.....

I was like oh hell nah.... But it starts turning the wheels in your brain to determine other methods of getting around with no car...Since Freshmen wasnt allowed to have a Vehicle.... Upper ClasswoMEN :sperm: and Their Cars worked out just fine:clap::lol::lol:

POP I don't know how yall lived in Dixon. I was in Stewart Hall and it was good and clean back in 93-94. then on to the good ole Honors Dorms...LOL

But if those dorms looked liked they use to JSU enrollment would take a hit. We have to compete with the big boys to draw todays pampered students.

It's just the way of the world now.

Dixon was prison. I was there in 2003-2004, right before they tore it down. No Elevators the majority of the time, no A/C. We used to the say that SWAC stood for , A Sentence Without a Conviction. We had a pillow fight war that spring where we would go to different floors knock on doors and start hazing folks. The freshmen football players ran that dorm when I was there. Dixon made a man out of ya.

Man Dixon was serious. The Elevator had unspoken rules. You couldn't use the elevator unless you stayed on the 4th floor or higher. I remember some dude tried to hop in and press the 2nd floor or 3rd floor. Everyone in the elevator blocked him from gettingout and made him ride all the way up with them and take the stairs back down.

It use to be these huge green gass hooper/praying mantis looking bugs in the shower just chillin. U aint wanna make no sudden moves or them things would go HAM.

Dixon was serious. It made Stewart Hall look like a palace..and Stewart was weak too.

Every now and then, the elevator would get stuck half way between floors and we would have to climb out. I remember having a fire drill one day, and it was dayum near as many females evacuating as there was guys. It seems like they threw all the worst cats on the 7th floor.

Dixon was the truth. Have been stuck in the elevators, have heard dudes screaming to get out the elevators, the bugs in the showers, the foul ass baseball players who would leave ground beef in the bathroom over the weekend, and the infamous "NO P*SSY NO PEACE" spray paint when we were denied visitation the spring.
