Correction: Coop was not in a bad situation. He tried to coach every situation in practice and the game. He was even offered a contract extension based on his first SCG. He did not sign the extension and it worked out in the best interest of AAMU. In my opinion, he is a good position or coordinator coach but not a HC. He is still young and as you can see still in demand. He may end up the HC at Miss St.

What I am saying is that Coop could not recruit any talent at A&M because of the type school A&M is. A&M is a start up and not thought of well as a football school. Coop understood that he would never get the talent necessary to compete on a yearly basis with real SWAC school. Hence he returned an 0-10 record against the SWAC winning schools.

Im sure he was laughed his butt off after being given a contract extention and a raise for going 4-7. He knew then that this school was not to be taken seriously as a football school, so he left.

Get Ready - You are RIGHT!!!!

I agree with you 100% Get Ready! Coach Bell is JSU's new coach and what the others of us think is trivial. Congratulations and all that good stuff. I will see you on October 18.

It is foolish for us to criticize Mr. Culberson and his selection of Coach Bell. Although the process left a lot to be desired it's symbolic of how JSU does business. And, of course everyone knows the great JSU does no wrong because they are J S U.

For the last 5 or six years the JSU Mafia has been prediciting they were going to go undefeated and rule the SWAC. So far they have been disappointed each year.

It is evident that Louisiana rules SWAC football. If it's not SU it has been GSU. The record speaks for itself.

When you had the three best wide receivers and offense in the conference you still didn't win the SWAC. With Superman Kent whom you claimed was better then Michael Vick you still don't have that SWAC championship trophy.

What's it's going to be like for 2003? We are bad, we have this, we are going to do this, we are JSU. When are you guys going to put up?

Can we expect an undefetaed season in 2003? You've got a good schedule. No Div. IA teams and six home games.
And of course you Superman Kent returning.

What you gonna do JSU:eek2:

I dont know kid....I dont know

but I can assure you of one thing.....we will be the hell out of SU again. thats for sure.

This from someone who's program? just completed one of the most hilarious "c**n circuses" in the history of college athletics, and hired a 1-9 high school coach! :eek2:

Stop the world, I wanna get off!

Bell has my total support. For some reason which may change later, his 1-9 season doesn't worry me anymore. This job was promised to this man way before he took that job. I believe he took that job to pass time. Why else would you go from a I-A coordinator to a high school job? Especially to a new high school who previous record in its brief history was 1-9 and 5-6. Bell was their 4th head coach in three years. Can you believe that. 4 head coaches in three years? So he gets their in June and only has the small timeframe in August to try and implement a system. No spring practice like in college. No hiring of your own personal staff like in college. No recruiting the players you need like in college. Plus the man's family was in Indiana. If he was serious about that job, how in the hell was he in Jackson on Saturday's or Indy.

No one on this board can make me believe that Bell is going to be a worse coach than Hughes. Do you think anyone will hire Hughes as a position coach on the I-A level yet alone a coordinator? The man should broaden JSU's recruiting base. We need some of that speed from Texas especially on the DL. My only concern is his staff. The man knows football. Plus this is Culberson's pick, don't you know Culberson will give this man whatever he needs to be successful. Did Culberson try to hire a strength and conditioning coach before? Look for Bell to get whatever he needs out of Culberson. Plus don't think this man is going to get paid on 85K. I guarantee he gets over 100K after the season. You have to realize Culberson is like Hannible on the A-team, "I just love it when a plan comes together."

BB

Thats what Im trying to tell these guys. Hughes won 7 games a year with his hands tied behind his back. Hughes won 7 games a year with no help from the Administration. Hughes won 7 games a year with his boss undermining him for the last two years. Hughes won 7 games a year and he knows nothing about football.

Was the process screwed up? yes.... Did Hughes get a raw deal...maybe. But Hughes had no support from the public, so no one was there to hear him.

Now that we have a real coach, its on now. All of you cats that we beat on talent alone(SU, 1-13), you can forget about competing with us now. All of you cats that beat us even though our talent was soooo much superior to yours (NCAT&T, Bama View), dont even show up going forward. And for you people that are not as talented but better coached (Gram), hand over what is rightfully ours.

Blue lobo, are you making this stuff up as you go along. I thought chavez was supposed to be a new program that Bell had built from the ground up. Why did the newspaper say the school was only two years old?

It's over after October!!!!!!

I gurantee that at the end of October the JSU Mafia will be asking for Bell and Culberson's heads.

As for Get Ready [don't you believe that you are going to win the the SU game on Oct' 18.] Look for a crowd of 60,000 mostly jaguar nation folks.

It's no way Bell will come in and take you all to a championship in 2003. Your season will be over after October 30, 2003.

Murderers Row:
FAMU - Gulf Coast Offense
Alabama State - Cole has your mind
SU - SU running and throwing plus a stellar defense
GSU - The Burger King quarteback and Doug will roll over you guys again.

It's going to be a long season.)

Borncrazy,
I thought you were the expert on Houston High School football. Obviously, I didn't post anything you didn't know. I mean you are the guy thats going to have a coach from Iowa. You should be happy for us to have a 1-9 coach. That will make your victory that much easier. See you in Jacktown.

Didn't that same SU offense get shut down by a PV head coach you joked when he was hired. Didn't that same PV coach shut down the HOBO offense? The defense didn't lose that game. GSU was the only team with any success. Was FAMU all world this year with their one year transfer from TCU? Sometimes I wonder if people use a little logic. Get your jokes in now because they will be few and far between when the season starts.

As for JSU winning the SWAC, it depends on how fast the offense picks up the new scheme. Its not like our conference is a powerhouse. Our conference is always 4 teams strong. It doesn't take a lot to win our conference. What's SU's excuse? Don't blame it on Hayes.

GD,

Why are you so concerned about our schedule? See we don't have scarey coaches like Pete asking to play weak D2 schools. At JSU, we play the best and we want to beat the best. You are in the SWAC, where there are only two or three decent teams per year anyway so why are you afraid of some comp?

BB,

SU is in trouble in 03. I really hate this because I want them to get to Bham and help us win the SWAC.

TigerPRIDE: SU in TROUBLE?

ASK GSU what kind of trouble SU is in! Tell us. Let's have a reality check.

Home the Jaguar Nations are cleaning out those mobile homes and getting ready to roll in 2003.

I do agree with JSU having an outstanding schedule. JACKTOWN and the JSU MAFIA will be rolling on Saturday's in 2003. Except in the month of October. 0-4, Remember I told you so.

As Birmingham is concern everyone wants us there so they can see a real football game in front of a pack stadium.

2003 is an odd year. Pete takes it all in odd years.

Get your head out of the sand young man.

GD
We both know Pete hasn't done shizznit over the past three seasons. He has been no better than Hughes, actually worse. Your program is not doing well because that transfer line from LSU has been cut off. I don't know why you guys will not admit. Every since Mr. Michigan State rolled into town, you guys have been going down hill.

So, is this your new excuse or new slogan?

"Pete may lose the even years, but he takes it all in odd years!"
:(

This is worstest then Annie Mae people believing that Jones do not care about winning games that does not count.

JR, should I hold you responsible for this?

What I don't understand is why YALL keep B#$ching about the man's record(1-9). He took over a football program in June/July 2002. It is not like he was there the entire year installing his system and these were the results. He had issues on that staff of trying to fill positions and adapt to those players and they adapt to his system. Look back at your coaches seasons and tell me if their losing season made a difference in their success now????? Every good coach will always have a bad season. That is just probability. If you need reminders then look back at your coaches records (past to present) and tell me if he has been perfect every year that he has been coaching????

Football is Football whether High School or College!!! Now what will make a difference will be who Bell adds to complement his staff and the players that continue to come to JSU.

LOL! Man, the last time J-State had better talent than Icon Grambling was during the transition years. Since 2000, J-State has been grossly outcoached, but more importantly outmatched in both the trenches and at the skilled players (see the 2001 and 2002 All-SWAC selections). In 2001 and 2002, the talent gap was as big as the one between the U.S. and Europe. Now, J-State does have promise (I like the Fr WR that played well against us in Oct.), but overall J-State does not have the D-line or secondary play to compete with Grambling. Now GR, I try and call a spade an spade -- I think the biggest improvement for Icon Gram will be the O-line later this fall (we have some big time G-MEN tackles waiting on the block). All skilled positions on the offensive side of the ball are set (this crew will be even more impressive next year). My concern is the LBers on D. Nonetheless, Grambling will be the team to beat as it has always been.

Remember, Kent will never beat Grambling. Never.

technically, the man could recruit at Chavez. His district allows recruiting for magnet programs. He has the best facility in a weak district. The 1st 2 spots in his district belongs to the 2 black schools but the last one should have been his.

Chavez was Bell's last minute decision. He was rejected by 4A powerhouse LaMarque HS.
