JSU Tuba Players

I'll say this about the crooked lines...

Straight lines are a product of how you practice. If you don't stress proper spacing and alignment (and 'guiding' off the guy next to you) during rehearsal, you'll never have it during halftime..

I don't think Liddell ever really stressed it. Taylor, Adams and Duplessis stressed it when I was in the Boom. We'd march a show over and over and over, until we got the spacing and the 'uniformity' just right. We'd practice for hours just on marching 'as a unit' either as a squad or company front or combinations of squads and company fronts. And it paid off when the product on the field was as precise as it was. We weren't perfect but we sought perfection.

By watching SU's band, it's obvious they stress proper spacing and alignment, and their drill execution is always nearly flawless. That's a product of how they practice..

The Boom has lacked that precision for awhile now. But we know what'll fix it. They just choose not to fix it, I guess. :smh:

Thank you for this common sense reply

I'm tired of folk (some) outside of SU band acting like Having Straight lines should be disregarded and it shouldn't count in SU's favor when judging a show....What kind of incompetent thinking is that?!?!

All of that is part of the work of putting on a field show...

This is one of the main reasons you all will continue to produce crooked line...

The first step is admitting it...

Sorry Jared, that made no sense. Of course I can admit it. Every band should admit it. YOU can't.....that's the problem......so it must be why YOUR band will continue to produce crooked lines too since YOU can't admit it.

Damn boy do you think before you open that non-sense mouth of yours.

I agree. Nobody should disregard bad alignment. Sure, I notice the lack of crispness/lines with JSU but uhh, I also have seen my share of crooked lines in ALL bands. My point was actually pointed at another poster talking as if SU doesn't ever have crooked lines. And I KNOW Alcorn ain't talkin' on here.
The sounds of JJ Evans.

That's a lie. As long as Pop was there, we had straight lines. And he was there after the Taylor era, so you can save that.

:lmao:

Man... are you even thinking before you post?

Question:

From your years of seeing SU drill, do you honestly think SU has a problem with alignment on the field?

Do you really believe SU has this problem "too"?
:retard:

You sound like a dude with rotten teeth who ain't doing shcit to get it fixed but have the nerve to say..."Well look at Rodney, he have a piece of meat stuck between his teeth".. only thing Rodney just finished eating a damn burger...smh

Worry about fixing your problem WHICH is OBVIOUS!!! and stop trying to shift YOUR problem on to someone who OBVIOUSLY don't have YOUR problem...

Lose that negga way of thinking man...

Peeking in to see if ya'll :argue2: about the Haughton era. I don't see anything.......so I'm good! :D

:shame:<DENIAL>:shame:

Okay, a problem is like when JSU has CONSISTENTLY been INCONSISTENT with the straightness of their lines for the past fiddy-'level seasons throughout entire shows..... NOT when SU maybe has 8-16 counts of crookedness in one, MAYBE 2 field shows a year. Nobody is perfect, and we are not claiming that, but, few-and-far-between mistakes is NOT a problem. Man-up and admit it..... Geez, we aint gonna neck you.

Where are all these crooked lines you speak of?

THAT is not the problem. I don't think anyone tries to down SU's marching but some some reason, people try to make the BOOM out the be the worst marching band in the world when in fact, we are easily second or third. When I ask what bands drill better than JSU, I normally get crickets...but when I do get an answer and ask someone to post a band that drills better than JSU, I ain't seen any posts yet! The ONLY band in the SWAC that can outdrill JSU is Southern. The only other band in BCF that is along our same style that can hang with us is TNState. So again, I ask, if JSUs drilling is so bad, post a clip of a band that can outdrill us!

Ummm, you already said yourself that Southern is better. I am in NO WAY trying to say JSU is the WORST out there. I would give them 2nd/3rd easily. I like the STYLE that ya'll have; the transitions and long slants.

Past 5 years:
UAPB
Norfolk
Alcorn
FAMU

All drills better than jsu....

This has nothing to do with the actual "SHOW".. But plain picking of your feet and keeping your lines straight... Does bands easily out drills jsu...

Now jsu looked pretty good for the SU game this year, but turn around in week two and have crooked lines and people falling all over the place.. they can't win for losing... Hence 1-4

Dude, PLEASE find an Alcorn show from the last five years where they had straight lines. Imma give you a pass on UAPB but what they did Saturday erases WHATEVER they did years ago. FAMUs style is not like JSU's or SUs so I can't make a fair comparison to them...they are creative but they look very ragged...however, I will even give you FAMU. Now, NSU...that's a joke. I would put A&T before NSU. NSU has straight lines but they only do a 30 second drill. ANYBODY can have straight lines in those little simple drills. So just to concede to you.. I will say that TNSTate (creativity), FAMU (creativity), SU (precision) and UAPB (cause you say so)...can outdrill JSU. Alcorn and NSU... :lmao: And Alcorn WALKS like a mofo...those drills go slow a fugg. How you gonna walk that slow and STILL be crooked. :smh: But I welcome you to post an Alcorn drill to prove me wrong.

I think the problem with JSU's band is, the students are just not motivated to perform.

Tiger G please stop. Tubas slipped on a muddy field. Gram is dead last in the SWAC and even lower in HBCU land. World Shame never ever knows it's music. Where is the motivation there?

The words were, "I think the problem with JSU's band is", I DID NOT mention Grambling's band. :topic:
