JSU To Play In Baton Rouge Regionals

In the games that SU and PV won in regionals who did they pitch to win those games against #1 seeds?

It doesn't matter..........Different teams and different situation. One does not create their strategy based on what another team did with different personnel and opposition in another year (that would be foolish). BTW, I do recall TSU winning a regional. I can't recall PV doing it.

One of those Texas schools. LOL

But basically it boils down to the thinking that JSU's best shot is to do the opposite of what the other teams that successfully performed against #1 seeds did.

Yes, different teams different situations. I look for the 2 and 3 seeds to throw their Aces in round 1 to attempt to get in the winners bracket. I think JSU Ace throwing against their 2 or 3 (depending on how lightly they take JSU) in the 2nd round would be the best shot at pulling an upset and having something in the tank for game 3. The best shot at LSU (if you can call it that) will be past the 2nd round. LSU is real deep though. All of this is just my humble opinion. I will be watching close though.

Eades is 8-1 this season with a 2.69 ERA, 75 strikeouts and 27 walks in 93.2 innings this season.

My goal would be to stay in the tourney as long as possible. Get your kids as much experience as possible which should help next year.

I'd rather pitch my ace the second game because I'd want to win it and thus give my kids at least one more game. Rather play three or four games than go two and out.

Which they may go two and out anyway, but I'd at least want to give my team a chance.

If you're not going to throw your Ace, you have to consider the bullpen in this decision. In theory, your best pitcher is supposed to save your bullpen. You don't want to use 3 or 4 arms in the first game. Can't understate how important those guys are if your intention is to advance deep into the tourney.

In the regionals everything is micromanaged and the game slows down a lot. Jsu must do the same thing it did in the Swac Tournament. Timely hitting, solid starting pitching and defense. With the exception of the Texas Southern game in the Tourney JSU was solid on defense. When Southern played at LSU regional a few years back, SU jumped out to a 2-0 lead but an error open the door for a big LSU inning. JSU must be solid if they want to beat LSU.

First shocker from the Regional. LSU's Cody Glenn is off the active roster and is suspended. 1 less pitcher.

That's one of their guns. I think he is like 7-2. I'm not sure this field pitching depth can out last's LSU's though. I still contend though, it you're going to catch them slipping (which is unlikely) it will be after game 2. It will be tough to beat Eades and NOLA is 10-0.
