They were successful this year, though, landing Reggie Harper of Hinds CC, Darrell Washington of Copiah-Lincoln CC and Ryan Hopkins of Northeast Mississippi CC.

Harper, Washington and Hopkins were three of 14 signees to sign with Jackson State Wednesday. "We're glad to get those young men," Bell said Wednesday afternoon. "The offensive line was our No.1 priority. There, and the defensive line, were the areas we needed the most help.

I don't know if he was a reject. Seems like I remember him getting into a little trouble earlier this year. I could be thinking of someone else though.

Vandy offered him a scholarship, and he committed. The coaches then found out that Thigpen didn't meet the academic requirements for the school, so they retracted the offfer. It was highly publicized throughout the state.

You may be thinking of Jeremy Bibbs (unsigned) or Tim Holloway (visited JSU but signed w/ MS State).

He already had a qualifying score on the ACT, but Vandy wanted him to retake it. I think they told him he needed to make at least a 20.

Sounds like they were basically telling him they didnt want him. Wasnt this right after they had got a committment from another qb?

I hate we missed out on him, too. At first, he was supposed to be a partial qualifier, but he's been in the books this year and M$U offered him. At 6-4 220, I'm wondering if the Bulldogs will let him play RB like they promised him.

They'll let him play running back for about one week. Dude will be a LB. Hey, I heard on the radio that Bell signed three more players yesterday. Two more JUCOs and a D-1 transfer. Do you know anything about those? I guess that puts the total at 17 and I think they only had room for about 16-20, according to the Clarion Ledger.

I heard about them last night, but Bell hasn't released the names. You know how he can be.....

I think that D-1 transfer is already enrolled, if it is who I think it is. We'll see Sunday.

And looking at last year's roster, it looks like we had about 14 or 15 full scholarships to give out, so we can probably sign about 20 at the most.

If Croom is smart they will let him play tailback and team with Jerious Norwood, because it would be a change of pace. Holloway is a way bigger back and can break more tackles than Norwood, and with them still trying to develop Omarr Conner, they need a strong running game.
