JSU Seeks Legal Action Against Grambling, SWAC...

But twitter was not responsible for letting us know gram would be at the crib on gameday....we were told that we would still have a game so now the prez looks like a liar.
Grambling President Frank G. Pogue made a call expressing his "deep regret that GSU was unable to field a football team" for Saturday's game against Jackson State University.

Grambling reports Pogue called JSU President Carolyn W. Meyers late Friday afternoon, informing her that the only 22 football players showed up to catch the team bus at 3:30 p.m.

"It was with deep regret that I called Dr. Meyers and told her what had happened," said Pogue

As far as the 2017 game, it screws JSU because it requires them to travel to LA twice which is not the way the schedule is set up. They would have to incur more cost to travel to Gram and SU in the same year and lose a home game which was scheduled in Jackson so if you are going to say JSU shouldn't be crying about the weak infractions set on Gram, then put yourself in their shoes.

Interesting you mentioned this. Years ago, under AD Culberson, we changed our schedule around and gave up a home date against SU to remedy just what you have in bold. Before 2004, we used to travel to LA twice during even years. But we sacrificed the 2003 home game against SU to even up the schedule.

None of which has anything to do with last year. Grambling coming to us was punishment by the SWAC for forfeiting a conference game. If they intended for it to be in lieu of JSU pursuing litigation, they would've had both parties sign an agreement stating such.

JSU should have played poor man's advocate and show Grambling not coming has adversely affected the athletic department. That 2014 Schedule however changes things. Don't believe me, just watch.

R.I.F. If you read the gott damn article you'd see this.

Sheesh!

Grambling has a vote for a student athletic fee coming up in about 3 weeks, if the fee pass it will generate between 1.1-1.4 million dollars, Grambling should give JSU 450k, play 2014 and 2015 in Jackson, and call it a day

It would be crazy for Gram to go for that. SOG has already posted the language that allowed "an out" for Gram, so..

And that is EXACTLY where this is headed.

You really believe that it is going to court? What court is it going to be filed in? Can you garnish Grambling's account if it tried in MS court but they refuse to pay? I am just saying. Does LA represent Gram if the MS Attorney General gets involved? Does he piss off his fellow republicans over some black folks stuff? I mean it ain't like Hood needs JSU alums votes to keep his job. Does Bobby Jindal see this as MS trying to get biggity with LA? I don't trust them mofos when it comes to this kind of stuff.

Hood is a Democrat. He surely needs JSU votes. But we expect him to do his job regardless of politics.

If this was any other conference in America that has 2 people at the top with 2 working braincells, Grambling would have been booted for that mess last year and fined out of existance.

But........... This is SWAC life. :lmao:

Ah................... JR.
Hood is the LAST DEMO holding an elected position like this in Mississippi outside the legislature and Senate. He need every DEMO vote he can get. :lmao:

And what people are failing to read in the story is that the Clarion Ledger as well as others in this city has been on his azz to investigate too with numerous request since this happened. Ya'll honestly act like JSU and President Meyers are the only ones in this state requesting this be looked into. Ya'll can try to make it po black JSU against Jingal Repubs and Mississippi repubs but that ain't happening. Jingal is not going to care one little bit about the Mississippi AG looking into this Grambling matter.

Jingal been cutting Grambling budget to the bone marrow but now all of a sudden, them necks are suddenly going to start caring and circle the wagons around Grambling? Get real. Jingal and all his repub boys probably roll their eyes everytime this crap comes up. :lmao:

The "strike" language? If they're counting on that, better get those checkbooks ready.

Exactly. A strike can only be orchestrated by unionized employees in most cases. Grambling is not unionized, and the players who didn't get on the bus aren't employees. They are students. So I don't even see "language" holding up in court.

do you know how many of my post have been deleted in this thread just for asking questions? lol!

Don't surprise me.
It happens all the time but the coward responsible never speak up. Just let it go and realize only certain posters can have free will to ask or post anything on this page. You, LIKE MYSELF, are not one of them.

Why? It's an honest question. I'm asking you as attorney. What is wrong with the "strike" language considering that it is in the contract.

Dang. I guess I have not followed Ms elected officials party ties lately. So he is a Dixie Crat huh? He has to be one of the last ones around since the Republicans took over the Gov Mansion years ago.

I can understand JSU wanting their money. I just think folks better be wary of this court thing if it comes to that. The media already felt bad for Grambling. If this goes to court and becomes a news item. I can see them mofos trying to make JSU look bad for suing Gram. Not saying it is right. But you already saw how the media was feeling sorry for the players and interviewing Doug and all. Hopefully an out of court agreement can happen to satisfy both parties. Otherwise it may get ugly. If Hood is indeed a Democrat and agrees with the suit. Them necks in LA may come to Gram's side and defend them to the utmost and then have their republicans in the SIP rise up to get Hood out of there. LOL.

This needs both schools and Sharp to sit down and really discuss this thing and resolve it. Sharp needs to get off his arse.

Yeah they will Frat. Don't think be naive. They will see Hood the Demo attacking their Republican ways. Especially if they have to help Gram pay that money. LOL. La is an interesting state. They may use this to help MS Republicans get Hood out of there. I don't trust them mofos man. Jindal may be like I can cut Gram and fugg them over. But yall MS mofos can't fugg with them. Especially a last standing Demo AG. I can hear the Republicans in MS calling Jindal now if Hood goes through with it saying this is our chance to unseat that mofo. LOL. You know they will if they get a chance to get Hood's job.

Repubs here lost money too when their businesses crapped out that weekend by ordering extra supplies and having extra employees on the clock just to see everything canceled. Hotels, Restaurants, shopping, etc. They were pissed about their money too.

As for that last part about Sharp, we all know that ain't happening.

Not necessarily. The definition of a strike depends on the contract. There may be a definition section of the contract that defines strike for the purposes of that particular contract.

JR, the ship has sailed with Sharp. As far as JSU's perception to the media. We really don't care is the general consensus. Furthermore, I don't think national media will even pay close attention to this lawsuit. These are still 2 FCS schools in the SWAC, at the end of the day. The strike, itself, was newsworthy. The repercussions and consequences that follow won't be.

It may gain some interest because it could possibly set a precedent, considering the big pushback from student athletes with pay for play, that may be something the media takes note of. But you won't see it plastered all over ESPN.
