JSU New QB

Why? Constantly bringing in transfer QBs is a formula for disaster. I believe the key is getting someone on staff to coach these kids.

If a coach can find a young player and coach him up over four years, that's fine but if not the JUCO route is the best route to go.

Our JUCO QB's have beated SU more times than not when you guys had four year QB's, so looking back on Comegy's record over the past few years, he's won with JUCO QB's.

You QB position should not be a chronicle transfer position. The best way is to recruit quality QB(s) and give them the proper coaching. There is a glaring weakness that the aforementioned is not happening at Jsu. Rick is filling this position too often with transfers and it indicates a deficiency. He has just been fortunate thus far to not pay a big price. However, it may change very soon.

We have a HS kid coming in who is expected to compete for the job. We recrited a 3 star QB a few years ago but he chose to leave and go back home. Comegy believes in winning and you all better be glad APR is in place because he would be cutting and bringing in better athletes every year as needed.

Yes that has a little to do with my earlier D-2 mindset comment. Perhaps that QB leaving is another symptom that you all are deficient in the grooming of QB(s) area.

At some point, you all are going to have to stop using S.U. as your measuring stick no matter how difficult it is. Grambling have been beating JSU brains in because their QB(s) are groomed within their system and they don't look for temporary fixes. Now some of that has to do with the correct D-1 mind set and having the proper personnel.

and this season, we have hired a full-time quarterback coach and he is currently activity on staff. this is something Tiger Nation been asking for awhile also. thank you for your support in making sure Jackson State continue to strive to excellence.

Our last couple losses to Grambling had nothing to do with poor QB play. Second, SU is by no means JSU's measuring stick. We just like kicking ya'll's glutes up and down the field, then singing GO HOME afterwards.

That is a good thing. I was merely pointing out the obvious. Hopefully it will stop the influx and musical chairs of these transfers in this key position. I don't think it will help much this year though.

A kernel of truth.

Now Tell us why Jsu & Grambling beat su's brains out?
I'll wait... try & answer before your friends lock the thread

You all are intent on taking this thread in the wrong direction. This is a discussion about the Jsu QB. Contrary to popular belief, I don't control a thing these moderators do. It is just my opinion that this fast and furious QB situation is not the right route. I would venture to say it is one of the reasons Jsu hasn't been able to capture but 1 championship in 16 years.

Series Records

Jsu vs Grambling 21-40-1
Jsu vs SouthernU. 28-28
Gram vs SouthernU. 30-30

The irony of Louisianians to make such a statement. Didn't SU anoint their white QB with a billboard, and Grambling should be the last ones talking a white mindset...especially with the way they've played stepnfetchit...hell, didn't they have a "White Tiger", too?

He hasn't been named starter, yet. Most of us just remember how talented this kid was, and have seen his film. Again, all of that doesn't matter until he hits the field. One thing we do know...if Trey Rutland, with a putrid run game, can win 7 games in this conference...this guy surely can do better.

I know you aren't talking about Grambling's White Tiger the movie which is about Jim Gregory, the 1st quarterback at Grambling which happened only because Inter Planetary Pictures approached Grambling not the other way around vs what happening now lol. We don't go for looking for white quarterbacks we look for quarterbacks in general and develop them unlike JSU so go back in your hole and try again.:emlaugh:

Come on JROCK ... don't go start spreading false information. We settled this already.

Grambling is ahead in the overall series 30-29. Grambling State leads the Bayou Classic series 20-18 after a 36-12 win in 2011. Grambling claims the longest winning streak in the all-time series, 9 games from 1970 to 1979. Southern claims the longest winning streak in the Bayou Classic, 8 games from 1993-2000. Grambling's 43-6 victory in 1980 ranks number 1 in the largest margin of victory in the series.[1]

You had the wins transposed on the Jsu vs Grambling series. So I fixed it for you. Now watch how they say they don't count the BELL years.

It was called to my attention last week the first meeting between Southern and Grambling in 1932 was not recorded in some record books because possibly Grambling was called Louisiana Normal and the win was not extracted in some databases.

When the Southern University Bushmen football team traveled to Monroe, Louisiana, to play the Tigers of Louisiana ***** Normal and Industrial Institute for the first time on Armistice Day, 1932, few realized they were witnessing the birth of a phenomenon.

This is an example of the 1932 game not being recorded:

Have you seen him play? In mop up duty against TXSo he threw a fade route in the Stands at Memorial who does that....Spring Game he still looked scared in the pocket....Sorry to inform u guys but this race is between Moore and Ivy....Also Terry Bowden wasnt the coach that started him last season...Terry Bowden got hired in Dec 2011....

I know Bowden was the coach that was hired. That's what we meant about him not impressing the new coach. TP said the new coach must have no clue or don't like him. I think Bowden took one look at film and dude this spring and said enough is enough. LOL.
