Re: JSU's Next Marching Band Director

Can't agree with your comment, Ms. Sanders did a lot for us at Alcorn. She was a great addition to our program while she was there and we hated to loose her. She brought a lot of intensity to the band not to mention a lot of disipline. Also our marching has lost a lost since Ms. Sanders left but I think we can all argue that everyone feel like most bands have lost a lot when it comes to marching. Arangement, please we all know who help JSU arrangements and Alcorn had better arrangement when Stephanie was there. It's not like JSU arrangements are just great now, and we know what the charted shows look like. Alcorn have a lot to work on and so does every band and I think Ms. Sanders and others that was on that list would be a great help to JSU.

You have to excuse tigerpride....He has a habit of putting his foot in his mouth and now thanks to you....

He got punked, pimped, played and turned out !!!!!!!!!!!

Too many from Alcorn have told me what a great job she had done down their for you guys.......

People like tigerpride run off at the mouth and not talking to the right people that know!!!!!!!

He might not want to be DOB right now ... but he might want to be director of the Boom if the money is right.:quiet::quiet::quiet:

After the way she got the SHAFT job please......
You hit the nail on the coffin.............
He asked for a simple raise and the rest is history

They will have to say they are sorry in writing and give the man a public apology!!!!
They will have to coug hup the CASH!!!!!!

Taylor wrote HIS own music...
Taylor charted field shows with Pop
Taylor was always in on the dance committee...
Taylor NEVER played an entire 5th Quarter FULL of MARCHES either:uzi:

So I can't give an opinion? My original opinion STILL stands.

I have heard of both Gaines and Berry but how can any of you say that either is more qualified than Macgruder. I won't say that I know everything about them (because I don't even know everything about Macgruder) however, name something that would put them ahead of Macgruder. Also, Ms. Sanders...I am sure that she is great person but for one, who wants a female band director....LOL :lmao:, secondly, she has never been a Head director before ...and third...in MY opinion (yes, mine SARG, not yours), the bands that she has been a part of (including NSU) don't impress me (yes ME, not YOU...LOL). Now, maybe she can't show her skills because her hands are tied. I am sure she is talented because she is a JSU grad but to take on the JSU job (arguably one of the top jobs in HBCU land) is a little hard for me to accept. I would hope that if she is as good as you all say she is, that she will come back to help with the BOOM.

BTW, why can't Liddell just retire now and put us out of this misery? ...and why can't Alcorn get an Alcorn grad to lead them while they are all up in JSU business....and ANYONE on that list that did not go to JSU, needs their name removed. SMH @ the BOOM 1991.

Because we want your input.

And since sooooooooo many of ya'll non-JSU folks, including and especially YOU, know so much about JSU and its band history, why not get your vote? See how you came running to this thread?

Them eyes gone flip out of your head one day as much as you keep rolling them..

you have to ask Dr. Liddell that question in person.

Professor Griff has hold at Alcorn like Dr. Greggs did at SU. He is not leaving till HE is ready.....

The part about Stephanie being a Head Director.....Ahhhh...
What HBCU has EVERY had a Female take the reigns...???????

People are still scared like before females started being drum majors......

FYI...Why are you shaking your heading at the Sonic boom 1991...
sorry kid...YOU WHERE not there.........

I was and it WAS not pretty.....
Some crabs went DRY snitching up to the JSU Admins and Dr. Fletcher i think talked to the entire Boom...

and said....That we could not make the Crabs do laps, push ups, etc!!!

Crabs ran all over campus in the Pre Drumline Devin Myles attitude with their chest stuck out.......:argue2::argue2:

They talked back and it was hard to control them......

Taylor was the Director of Bands with Pop in charge...........

Taylor was about to resume control again and then the rest is CURRENT history.

Well since he/she is a concerned JSU student/alum how about you grant that person ACCESS...

I don't have that authority....

Just add this thread to the other stuff that get discussed in this forum...

Just because you have a JSU login name/ties does not get you in the forum......duh....

Re: JSU's Next Marching Band Director

How do you know this? .

This is what I want to know...

Liddell plans to retire within the next five years. We had a serious discussion at our last alumni chapter meeting concerning who JSU?s next Band Director should be. We plan to discuss our concerns with Dr. Mason because we plan to supplement the next Band Director?s salary. Who do you think should be JSU?s next Band Director after Liddell retires?

Which chapter?

Re: JSU's Next Marching Band Director

That is one reason I didn't like drumline.

:argue2:...You are not lying....
Dang movie showed FALSE lies and PRETENSE!!!

But anyway..Back to the subject at hand.....
Show me the money!!!!!!!!!!!!

We have the time to talk on this.........
Spin the wheel..make the deal...

JSU New Director should be........................

Alcorn's arrangements and marching leave a lot to be desired so she obviously did not help them in that department. We need a director who knows how to edit and write arrangements to fit the band, it HEAVY on tradition, chart drills, and wants the band to march. We need to see some clips of WSSU. To be honest, of that list, only Macgruder is qualified.

Are you serious? Remember the 1995 version of The Sounds of Dyn-O-mite? Michael Magruder was at JSU and Stephanie Sanders was at Alcorn. The Sounds of Dyn-O-mite blew the "Sonic Boom" away with better arrangements, drills and BIG BAND SOUND!

one year, huh?? :lmao: (...and no I don't remember. I remember JSU bringing the space ship out there at halftime for the Michael Jackson-Janet Jackson song but I was too full of crown and coke to remember much else.)

Personally, this should've been in the Private Forum....

Publically, why is this being discussed now??? If Liddell says he's retiring in five years, why are we speculating on a replacement??

Besides, I doubt if the next Band Director is even on that list......

Personally, some of you'll take this website and comments too serious! This website is just a platform for us to express opinions, nothing more. When JSU formed a committee to select a replacement for James Bell, a list of those on the committee, the top candidates and who interviewed was released to the public. No one on this website has been selected to form a committee to discuss Liddell's replacement. I doubt if anyone on the website ever will, lighten up, it?s just the internet!

 Exactly... Its just anothing TOPIC on the internet. Who cares if its not in a private forum? Who cares who votes for who? Its just a topic for OPINIONS..... which is just for YOUR OWN entertainment.

LOL...looks like A JSU Tiger took it too seriously :lmao:

:
Marching Band Director and Director of Bands do not have to be the same person. What about this option?

I would much rather see someone come in to take the marching band who has a marching band focus. Dr. Liddell has a concert band and music education focus and I do not want to lose that just to make the marching band a better unit.

If the DOB continues to have charge of the marching band, it must be someone who can also take the concert bands to the next level.

I wish that I could apply! You have to love the CRAFT; and listen for the unheard: I can't explain ,but I can put it on the field.:headphone:headphone:headphone
