JSU MOVING FORWARD WITH PLANS FOR DOME STADIUM

And how does JSU plan on getting this $200 million to have this dome built? You aren't going to get $200 million from the selling of Veterans Stadium. You might be able to get $75 million if UMC wants the land bad enough. That still leaves $125 million left. Let's say alumnae come up with $20 million (again, I'm aiming high), you still have $100 million left to come up with.
Do yall really think the good ol' boys in State of Mississippi legislature are going to approve give JSU $100 million for a domed stadium? Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and Southern Miss will raise so much hell that yall will be lucky to get $50 million from the state. And yall know they are not going to let JSU out shine the beloved Big 3.

It's ambitious and shows forward thinking, but JSU with a domed stadium...

Please JSU don't forget about this end of ih20 :D. HQ'ers galore in the dfw. Closed mouths won't get fed, feel me? Formally inquire regarding advertising and selling your campus infrastructure to one of the technos in exchange for $$$$(at&t, ibm, dell-marr :read: ). Hell, ask the Dallas chapt of the PV NAA if we want to help an hbcu that has a vision and a plan for athletic growth. No, I'm not kidding. We just elected a new prez lol and he sees how PV has habitually lied for yrs and has inept leadership.

I love this idea...Why not have a HBCU with a domed stadium? This would bring great revenue to Jackson and Mississippi. This would probably result in Mississippi getting a bowl game to attract some fans from outside of the area to come in and spend money annually. Dream big JSU! I know the republicans will be prepared to fight this so have a back up plan for half of that $75 million but I think it definitely can happen. Good for JSU

If you've read any of the articles on this dome, you would see that JSU is only asking the state for $75M. That would at least suggest that the other $125M is taken care of.

This wasn't hatched last night. This baby been incubating for a minute. Now that the egg is cracked.......it's on!!!
Rob, let them stay naive. Some will kill themselves if they found out who the private donors where.

It shocked me too.... I see the dome parkings area tailgate area and football facility in the near future but this is something we knew months ago...in the words of Lebron "Its about damm time"...

Go ahead JSU. It can be done. The institution (state) has to go to the bond market to pull it off.

Yall can do it JSU, I do hope that its built on campus......
From the renderings I've seen, it'll expand campus towards downtown. Where it's slated to be built, that side will be an athletic complex with all sports teams facilities in that one area. We're just building out from the baseball, softball and soccer fields.

You wanna know why I said $100 million? Because yall haven't even taken/accepted bids on the stadium yet. Construction costs will go up every year. It'll probably be $100 million that the state would have to fork over by the time yall even break ground. Every year yall wait, the price will continue to go up. $200 million could easily balloon to $250-300 million or more with each year that goes by. That's happened with all stadiums.

All of this is a moot point. After looking at this closer, I don't see this happening.

I would like to see JSU get the dome. It can be a sign of good things to come for JSU and the SWAC. I just hope all ducks are in a row, and people don't with drawl their support. Most importantly, it can be a stadium JSU call their own.

Most importantly, it'll light a fire under all the other schools and hopefully push us where we could and want to be, and not where we probably should be (Div. II). I'll smack on the other board, but in the meanwhile, Good stuff, JSU.

I don't see it. Even with 25K it would be a shabby dump with the kind of money they can access. They would come out ahead building something like Bama State has.

And u are giving your foolish opinion based on what? Tell me sumtin i dont know about this situation?
