Sure, someone else will put that tiger mascot on again and probably do a good job, but ?Wavy Dave" simply was too talented to ever be truly replaced.

I know "Wavy Dave" will never be replaced, but JSU's current head drum major would be an excellent tiger mascot, the guy can dance his azz off!

Whoever they get, I recommend they get somebody that the JSU family already knows or is familiar with.

Being able to dance is not what made Wavy special. Anybody can dance. The job takes a committed person with the right heart for JSU. We may never get another long term Mascot again....the best we may get is some students doing 2-3 years like other schools.
 
My suspicion is that maybe for the next year or two, we won't have a Tiger mascot....

But I'm inclined to think that one of the very first 'Baby Tigers' will be college age soon, and one of them may 'take-up the mantle'....

But yeah, Wavy will NEVER be replaced....

Well....I really do not think that Byron will be staying in Jackson, MS....
As this is not his home I believe............

So when the time is right...
The torch will be passed.................

Tell then...It is time to reflect on some thing about Wavy to make us smile and laugh...................

He was a CLASS ACT.....


How Many times and ways has Wavy came to the game and start off off Halftime......Out of a LIMO...Out of a Ambulance..ETC....
 
I think the mascot suit "Wavy Dave" used should be retired. A new Tiger Mascot suit should be purchased and shouldn't look exactly like the one retired.

Before the Magnolia Grid Iron Classic the other day. A few of the guys from the WLBT Sports Journal crew where saying that that his out should if it could go into come sort of Hall of Fame....Like the Mississippi Sports...

Or Jackson State should make a spot on campus to retire his "Original" Mascot suit....If he did not do it already....

I know Wavy told me that the other was hanging by duct tape......

JSU purchased a new suit two years ago, but Wavy continued to wear his old suit (he had several).. So there's a suit available....

One of Wavy's wishes was that one of the first Baby Tigers (who's at JSU now) would take the suit and be the mascot.... That may happen soon...

A suggestion has been made to display one of Wavy's suits (an older one, the one with the vest) in some type of memorial. But those talks aren't complete....

We'll see what happens in the near future....

This is true, I think he brought so much to the game and to the crowd also!!!!!

This is such a great idea, it would be great to see that happen!!!!!!
 
I think something good is going to come from all of this....

I know a former Baby Tiger real well. And I talked with his mom over the weekend. And she said he wants to go to JSU and be the Tiger....

They both say that Wavy would've wanted it.....

Maybe we've been looking at the whole Wavy Dave-Baby Tigers thing the wrong way...

Maybe Wavy was grooming his REPLACEMENTS the whole time....
