1. Will JSU own the stadium?
The stadium will be owned by a Limited Liability Corporation (LLC), which will be owned by the Jackson State University Development Foundation (JSUDF). The JSUDF exists solely to support JSU and is closely related to the university but legally separate.
2. How often will JSU use the stadium?
JSU will use the stadium rent-free between 45 and 50 days per year for football and basketball games and other special events. The facility will be rented out for an additional 150 days a year.
3.Why is JSU asking the state of Mississippi for funding for the stadium?
Every publicly-funded university in Mississippi has a stadium on campus, except JSU. Each school initially received funding from the state to construct its stadium. Furthermore, JSU is a state entity and plays a vital role in the economic development of the city of Jackson, the region and the state
4.Why 50,000 seats for football?
The goals of this project were to “think big†and do something that changes the dynamics of JSU, the City of Jackson and the State of Mississippi. The dome will be that game changer.
The difference in cost to build 35,000 versus 50,000 seats is about $12 to 14 million. It is a better investment to build big now rather than to incur additional costs for future expansions. JSU’s enrollment plan calls for 15,000 students in a few years. As the student population grows, so will game attendance. If each student brought a friend to a football game, we could have 25,000 to 30,000 people in attendance. In the future, additional activities such as professional football team exhibitions, NBA exhibitions and/or games, Battle of the Bands events and more will need the large seating capacity.

JSU has one of the most progressive and positive administrations in HBCU land. They are earning their pay checks and listening to what the alumni wants, what the university needs and helping JSU become a world class institution. I applaud them for the good job they are doing. JSU will be ahead of 90% of HBCU's in five years. Great job!!!!!! :clap: You JSU alums have to be grateful for the administration you have. Good luck and I hope it works out for you. :clap:

In all honestly if and whenever this dome is build, JSU will have to turn away recruits cause it will be one of a kind period for the state of MS and surrounding states.

Eh....it's good that they are garnering interest, but I'm still in favor of a nice, 38K stadium w/ an indoor practice facility.
But if the doors ever open on this thing, I need to see a plan of action to leave the SWAC within 5-10 years. No disrespect to the SWAC (heck the rest of yall are welcomed to join us lol), but you don't build a mansion in the middle of the projects. It's good to see Bama State thinking the same way. Black College Football will be dead if in 2025, we are in the same spot we are in right now.

I really don't feel like watching Black folks make a fool out of themselves when it comes to begging racist White folks for anything. But I really hope Mississippi can prove me wrong on this one, but there are still too many "WHAT IF's" that needs to be answered to really make this project a success. Also, according to that website, Mississippi's return value on $75 million dollars would only be $89 million dollars, which means the State would have to wait 20 years to generate only a $14 million dollar profit on $75 million. It seems like to me someone really needs to recalculate the interest payment in their amortization chart.

When looking at the feasibility of building, operating and maintaining a stadium, the number of seats built and filled matters at every step of the project.

Think about it... there's no way the Amusement tax over 20 years will be more than sales and other taxes for the same period of time! The 20 years was strictly a reference for the amusement tax portion of the payback.

How do you think SU get the $$$$$$$$$ to build the new dorms, renovate athletic facilities, etc, they got on campus. Unless you live in a 51% minority state, in a 51% minority city, in that has a black governor and a 51% minority advantage in elected officials, every black mofo in this country is "begging" for shat.
I don't know one state that has those minority numbers.
Pride and being scared is what keep us back. Nobody is begging but black people got to get out of this state of mind that if you ask for something, and spend time working the plan, somehow that is begging YT for $$$$$$$$$.
Those white developers and planners doing the Eastover project in Jackson has been so-called "begging" the State for over 6 years to help fund that project through bond money for right of ways, permits, etc. They finally got it after all those years. Why is it not begging when white people are presistant in what they want but when we do it, BLACKS see it as begging YT? :noidea:

You are talking apple to oranges when comparing dorms to stadium, plus I'm trying to get y'all to see how wiggernecks would see things. From what I see, when this plan is presented before them, they will not approve giving jSU $75 million dollars to build a stadium. I can hear them now, "the State will have to wait twenty (20) year to generate $14 million dollars off of $75 million dollars, which is not guaranteed". "I'm sure there are better investments out there".
