Jones steps into spotlight during JSU B&W game

Thrilla,

No PATs were tried. Can't wait to get them recruits in.

Everybody else,

It went like this. White team had 1st team offense/2nd team defense. Blue had 1st team defense/2nd team offense. 1st team defense did a great job. They were hitting hard and getting to the ball. Kent and co. was on lock until the 2nd quarter, when they scored on two straight drives, the 2nd being on a long pass where Chris Jones just outfought the defender for the ball and ran it in.

They gave up some yardage, but they always buckled down and made the big plays to stall out the drives when they needed to.

Ask yourselves this question. How happy would you be with your defense if they held JSU to only 18 points (3 TDs) for 4 quarters??? Say what you wanna. We ain't mad.

Actually Robber, the white team only scored 2 TDs. The defense scored one on that horrible fumble call.

Carry on...

They gave up some yards? Was the offense consistenly allowed to down the field to only be stopped in scoring position, or is this the kinda defense that can put you in 3rd and long or cause you to go 3 and out consistenly?

Sonic98,

Keep in mind that they WERE going against Robert Kent and Co. What exactly do you want??? NO, the offense didn't consistently move the ball down the field. But the offense did make a few big plays. The defense just responded afterwards with a big play of its own.

2 first half TDs. ZERO 2nd half TDs. I'll take that defense against us any day.

So does that mean they didn't punt any either? Did both teams just go four down and out every series?

To be honest, I don't see what different from this year's team and what happened in the Dome last year. You offense still can't muster any second half offense, you defense still gives up yards by the ton and you still don't have anything resembling a special teams?

You talk about me counting on freshmen and sophomores but you currently don't even have a competent kicker on your entire roster. You have went through an entire Spring and the biggest are of concern on your team has yet to be resolved. Right now, you are banking the farm on two soccer players nobody at your school has even seen before.

Offense was never been you problem. Defense was not your strong point but actually you played team pretty decent at times. The reason JSU has under acheived over the last two years is because Hughes doesn't understand the value of special teams. You yourself have stated as much.

From reports of your Spring Game, I honestly don't see how this year will be any different.

Thrilla, I agree with you...

Plus, I don't think it went the way they say that it did. But, I hope they do well. Just not against us.

Uh ohhhh! Here come the questions again that I won't answer. I better stop saying stuff, because they take my comment to be smack everytime I post.

Thrilla, what do you suggest we have done about our kicking situation? SHould we have went and gotten them from HS and made them participate? You tell me. Also, does A&T have a kicker???? You did not bring one to ATL. Also, just to answer your questions, we do have a new person over our special teams and we have been practicing that.

You all asked about the defense, then the very next day, the man tells you about the defense and you all still want to talk smack. Most of the teams we play (including A&T and AAMU) won't have a first string as good as our second team. As Robber and other reports have told you, the first string defense did not give up a first down the entire first half and our second string defense fell victim to some big plays but limited Kent to only one TD in the second half. You all need to be scared because it should be very obvious that once we get the chance to rotate these guys in and out keeping them fresh and focused, we can hold teams to very few points.

...and also Thrilla, the last two years have not been bad for us on special teams. Only last year. It has never been that bad. In 2000, it was our D-line and the loss of our o-line. JSU has always had kickers. You can check all the records you want to back that up. In 2000, Kent was punting and we had a good field goal and Xpt kicker.

I know we were going against our own great offense, I was kinda asking for your opinion of the kinda defensive team we'll be in 2002.

Thrilla and Mike,

Like TP said, exactly what were we supposed to do with the special teams this spring. Y'all criticized us for signing two high school kickers. Now that we have to wait until they get to campus in the fall, y'all wanna criticize us because they haven't arrived yet??? Y'all got issues. If you read about us not having a special teams when fall practice starts, then I would understand your comments.

Mike,

Who gotta lie to you??? I told you what happened.

LOL@ the jocks that are sooooo scaried of JSU coming to town this fall. You all are some "Born Losers". I never seen this much hate, jealousy, envy, strife, fear from grown men in my entire life. Dayum, I mean, if you are that concern about your team getting imbarrassedthis fall, then just dont come to the dayum games.
*smh*

Does this answer some of your questions, you scaried @$$ freaks?
Friday night's game was intense from the outset, highlighted by a handful of big plays and several hard licks administered by both sides. Perhaps, it was the motivational talk beforehand from Herman Boone, the former coach portrayed in the movie Remember the Titans.

One of the hardest licks came late in the game when linebacker James McGowan tattooed quarterback Robert Kent near the White team's sidelines, setting off a mini-fracas. Both teams were hit with personal foul penalties before play was resumed.

"I was hungry for a lick at the time," McGowan said with a wry smile. "It was just instinct. I realized it was our quarterback, but I was already in the air by then. I apologized to him afterward."

Said Kent: "I love it, that's the way I like to play. I thought I heard the whistle blow, so I kinda stood up and slowed up. It was over for me by then because he was coming. He had left his feet already."

Other defensive highlights included: A vicious, but clean, hit by free safety Lamont Woulard on receiver Cletis Gordon as Gordon attempted to catch a pass across the middle; cornerback Marcus Craft's hit on Jacobs that forced a fumble that was picked up by linebacker Marion Mark, who returned it 60 yards for a touchdown; and safety Vince Davis' two interceptions.

Davis returned the second one nearly 55 yards before lateraling the ball to linebacker Elgin Andrews, who picked up about 20 more yards, side-stepping Kent along the way.

"Yeah, I had to put a couple of my moves on him," Andrews said with a laugh. "I faked him out. I used to play a little running back in high school, you know."

Bean, dude hit the man with a "unnecessary hit". That's nothing to brag about. What about some legal hits? If that's the best the paper can come up with for your defense than y'alls azzes is in trouble.

What the hell easy got to do with it??? Were you happy that your defense held JSU to only two offensive TDs??? If so, I rest my case. You just proved my point. It would seem that our defense did the same thing Gram's defense did.

<font size=1>:remembering this ain't the smack board:</font>

I knew it all along:

jsue's defense will STILL be sorry!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How many receiving yards you gave up????
Last week, what was that article about the running yards that defense was giving up in practice???

Just think about the amount of yards they'll give up when they face an offense that they don't see everyday in practice!!!!!!
:lol::lol::lol:

Hey TP,
What was that spill you did about defenses should be wayyyyyyyyy ahead of offenses in the spring game?

Look for MORE of the 61, 42, 64 from that defense

I wonder who'll go first--------JW or Johnson (the so-called best DC in bcf)

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Let me go count the days til Mobile!!!!!!!

Where did it say "unnecessary"? It says, "that Robert Kent received a hit near the sidelines." Now I did not read "unnecessary hit" nowhere.

Please dont freak out on me because of fear and start postin things that you dont see like Pornkilla.

Mh, your comments have now become redundant. Your fear have consumed you. I truly believed that you were set apart from people like Pornkilla, but you have just reassured me that sometimes the line between love and hate actually vanish. That jealousy and envy will bring an end to you if you dont receive help soon.

fear, jealousy, envy?

You probably don't even realize how stupid that sounds!!!!!!
:smh: See, if the mafia (that's the jsue group on this board who won't let you join them) can post all day every day about how good they're gonna be, I can post all day every day about how they're not.

btw, I guess you're saying that hit on Kint was "necessary"
:lmao: :lmao:

JST,
You're responsible

MH, I can see that your fear is starting to spread as we speak. You really need to check yourself in somewhere quick. "Unnecessary" "Legal hits" is what we (Mr. Wacs and I) was talkin about. Nowhere in the article did it state about the hit being "unnecessary" or "illegal". Now, whether I thought it was "unnecessary" is another story. And what brought about the penalties was stated the events that happend after the hit.

MH, you truly disappoint me. Your fear is truly getting the best of you, but dont worry. It will all be over soon.

TP, what is that date that we play ASSu again?

Remember you are sitting by me now....dont let me down.

BTW, I read your spring game article and I wasnt impressed at all either. Its a good thing our starting offense could only score 2 TDs on the defense or we would really be catching hell on this thread.

This is going to be soooo sweet.

Get Ready,

You know mighty hornet ain't got the stones to sit next to you. He will conveniently be nowhere to be found. And if they get lucky and win, that's when he'll pop up.

So, don't expect to see him in Mobile.

LOL!!!!!!!

I just wonder if yall will still have all of this confidence once you finish September with a losing record.

And then comes October!!!!!!

in Mobile

AGAIN!

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

rob,
Make sure you bring your camera!!!!!

Only 164 days!!!!

MH. have you found a QB, o-line, d-line, and secondary yet? Hell, I don't even know if ASSU even has receivers. Did all of those recruites bolt when they realized they had been lied to?

MH, no one can stop Kent and company. Our own defense had to work hard to do it. If our defense can slow down the best offense in 1-AA, then what do you think they will do against the scrubs on our schedule. At least your team will be healthy after playing Spelman, Bennett and 'nem.:lmao:

I aint fooled at all!!!!! TRUST ME!!!!!!!

C'mon Mobile!!!!!!!!!!!
