Good yall have the Cole Brothers at TXSU.. BUt without talent, your still 0 -11 or better yet, yall may pull a James Bell 2 - 9.. Money Bet, TXSU, doesn't win more than 3 games next year. So stop all your celebrating.. J-State we run da SWAC.. hate to burst yalls bubble.. :argue2:

James Bell RUINED J-State by gutting a decent team and with bad coaching.

Cole won't do that judging from his success at Lane as a head coach. He turned Lane around. He recruited Houston players to Lane... he should be able to get them to go to TSU.

I suggest JSU worry about facing Gram on the 15th. We know what is needed. We do not need you to inform us. JSU should take care of theirs and we will take care of ours.

J-State run the SWAC....Wishful Thinking!

James Bell didn't RUIN JSU. If he had, we wouldn't be one game away from the championship 2 yrs after his departure.

Cole will find that recruiting and winning in the SWAC is a lot harder than in the SIAC. Having his brother with him will be a big asset, so i'm sure he'll do ok. I just wonder how low the ceiling is at TxSou. They've never had any consistant success since I've been following HBCU ball(20 yrs). Maybe I'm wrong, but I doesn't look as if the atmosphere there is condusive to long-term success on the gridiron.

Also, I'm wondering how long he'll be there. Those Cole brothers have a way of wearing out their welcome.

PVAM you can say all you want.. You will be watching the SWAC championship like erebody else. So keep shaking your head. Yall in the west, and we are in the East.. Suck it up, and look forward to next year

I just hope people who are outside the "loop" are patient as what they did at Tennessee State and Alabama State was before the NCAA changed some rules up regarding transfers and that damn APR stuff

I predict TSU will be competitive for 4 quarters in 2008....maybe even make a brief dent in the standings for 2009 but by 2010...their success for the future will be determined by the commitment the administration makes to the program.

Alabama State and Tennessee State had decent facilities to lure kids in.....I predict they'll have alot more success recruiting outside Houston than in Houston in the beginning

Wasn't Cole rejected 4 years ago by PV and TSU. Good luck TSU, this is a High Risk....High Reward dude. Big brother will be watching his every move.

Johnnie Cole is welcomed home.

It took competent Board of Regents (which we have now) as well as much alumni persuasion and backing to get the job done.

This has been a long time coming and our incoming university president is focused, dedicated and a helluva financial man that knows the importance of athletics and its role with student/alumni morale and involvement.

Understand this everyone, it's a given for some of you to be pessimists and previous Texas Southern administration has had very little vision and receptive to alumni but now times have changed.

A sleeping giant has been awakened and Cole WILL be successful with Houston as well as statewide recruiting. It's already in place as you read. Alumni locally, statewide and nationally have waited for this day for some time. Say what you will but Texas Southern will be a force.

If Billy is serious....I have a SWAC Dream team ready to do some damage :lmao:

my dad never missed this many games in his lifeas the product sucked....I hope for his sake he can see better days

Congrats TSU

The power of the west just shifted to Houston. Its about to be on. Now the LA schools wont coast into the SCG.

Now is the time to work on moving the SCG from bham to Jackson Shreveport or Houston. Its obvious that JSU v TSU Gram or SU will be the lineup. It makes no sense for all of us to have to go so far east.

GR, don't leave PV out of the equasion, their coach has shown he has them headed in a winning direction. Also, he has shown the ability to recruit good talent. We at TSU are just getting some air in our lungs for the first time in a long time about football. I will say this, the road to SCG will have some tuff roads to travel through the greater Houston area

Awww damn, I didn't think we wanted them to know how many TSU alums are head FB coaches, OC's & DC's across the state. I'm mean what do you think most of the TSU ex-players do? They go coach in schools across the state at all levels. I don't rmemember seeing this discussed in public B4. Did we ever tell them how the previous leadership isolated these people and even said "I don't want them to think I owe them something, so they can keep their kids". Anyway, that's in the past! Is it OK to tell them that the new leadership is reaching out to and expressing an importance of these recourses state wide?

Man some of you have no I idea how far reaching TSU & PV alums are. Many just were not involeved because of poor leadership, and disrespectful treatment, but alums are now getting on board @ both universities.

Ohh damn, let me go get that gate!!! peace I'm out!!!!!

If people weren't involved then they won't be involved now. "Poor leadership" and "disrespectful treatment" are just excuses for not giving a damn.

If they aren't helping the university in its darkest hour, they won't help in its finest. Morale may be better, but don't expect anyone to bend over backwards to help.

That has been my observation.

PV is still a few years away. They are fresh off a 3-8 season. Wait until we see a trend of winning seasons before we list them a 3rd place WEST team as a contender.

At this point I am optomistic, If he builds it they will come..... TSU must work hard to get the alum back in the fold. I think the new leadership with fresh ideas and nothing to hide will be attractive to alums.

Cole will be successful but it will not be as easy as some think. Grambling and Southern aren't going to drop off. Prairie View might have a harder time recruiting in the Houston area, but I believe PV will continue to improve. And in terms of football facilities and fan support, TSU needs improvement.

The biggest imediaiate challege (to me) for both TSU and PV is the stadiums in which they play their home games. I know money for the progams will always be a concern as it is for all HBCU programs.

I credit those students who are playing at TSU and PV now, but if I am a high school football player being recruited by either school and am visiting the campus for the first time...those staduims are killers.

I know it is not an easy fix. TSU has had problems trying to work out deals with Rice and UH. But even if it means working out a deal with one of the area school districts to use their facilities I say you have to do it until something better comes along.

I mean this respecfully. It is not an attempt to smack.

You right and when we get our facilities and stuff started it's a wrap.

Coach JC will build a SWAC contender at TSU! I give it maybe three years. I have that much faith in the Coles' coaching ability and recruiting ability. I think this biggest thing about these guys is they bring a lot of fun into what they do. A lot of players love to play in their type of system, wide open offense. HOBO!!!!

And none of your insightful comments are taken as such as you are completely dead on target.

Plans for a new fieldhouse are in the works as we speak as well as two CRUCIAL stadium options. Things are looking up for Texas Southern.
