Jindal faces troubles in his home state

If they have that, then it is a S. Louisiana flavor going on. I believe chitlins is a N. Louisiana thing.

They have chitlins in Alexandria too. My grandfather used to eat everything that was made in Louisiana and then wash it down with a tall glass of butter milk. :emlaugh: Meat pies is definitely a North Louisiana flavor.

One can't be in Central and North Louisiana at the same time. I remember working in Ruston, LA, I had to correct a co-worker of saying that Alexandria is in South Louisiana. Alexandria is straight Central Louisiana. I bet you think meat pies come from South Louisiana. Meat pies are a Natchitoches cruisine.

I don't think I've ever had a meat pie so I couldn't tell you too much about that.

I remember growing up and going to Shreveport. My dad talked about getting chitlins at this soul food restaurant when we got there. My brother and I saw that and said, no sir we are not eating that you got to take us somewhere else. :emlaugh:

Probably because they killed most of the game off back in the day.

I can remember like our was yesterday my grandfather coming home each Saturday with waits belt of rabbits then he would go back out and bring back about the ducks.

He gave me my first single bolt action .22 and taught me how hunt squirrel when I was 12.

Now that he mentioned it, I do remember some of my people going to Toledo Bend (I think that's the name of it) to deer hunt or something related to that type of activity.

Now see, the trick to eating chitlins are to mix a little or maybe a lot of South Louisiana flavor with it. There's nothing like eating chitlins with a lot of Tabasco Sauce on them.

Toledo Bend is in Vernon Parish where Leesville is located.

I see them at Soul Food restaurants around here (ATL). I haven't been bold enough to try them yet anyway. I may try them one day.

Make sure you have a bottle of Tabasco Sauce to get by the first bite. After that, it's all downhill. :emlaugh:

I probably would have to have a couple of drinks on an empty stomach to make myself hungry and high enough to try it. :emlaugh:

A person can hear more coonass and redneck jokes in Alexandria than any place in Louisiana. I guess it's like that because there are so many coonasses and rednecks that live and work in Alexandria.

I see religion, accent, type of food, and their complete cultural background. Most South Louisiana folks don't give a sh!t about what people think of them when it comes to partying and having fun, whereas North Louisiana folks try to be Bible toting God fearing people, but are some of the biggest hypocrites. Funny thing, Pineville, LA, which is across the river from Alexandria, is now considering lifting the ban on the sale of liquor. And what's really strange about the ban, a person can cross the river to Alexandria and buy all the liquor they want and both Alexandria and Pineville are located in Rapides Parish. I do believe more pressure is being put on Pineville now that the Jena-Choctaw Indian Tribe just open a new casino just north of Pineville in Grant Parish.

Depends...the two largest cities in North Louisiana...Monroe and Shreveport have black mayors who are graduates of GSU with an undergrad or masters.

Neither give two shots about Jindal that when he shows up to the city they don't even send a representative. The republicans in either city don't like Jindal. To this day I don't know how he was re-elected.

But as far climates in the North and the South is just food.

I believe Piyush "Bobby" Jindal gets his North Louisiana support from Mike Foster, who's a redneck that lives in South Louisiana (Franklin, LA). Mike Foster's grandfather was very instrumental in establishing Louisiana Tech when he was governor and you know them Ruston necks have some deep pockets. All the big road contractors in Louisiana supports Mike Foster, such as Boh Brothers, Diamond B., Gilchrist, James Construction, etc. Mike Foster set them up pretty with the TIMED program, which is why you can travel from Ruston to Alexandria, Monroe to Alexandria, Alexandria to Lake Charles, and Lake Charles to Shreveport on 4-lane highways. Also, the TIMED program is the reason why the Huey P. Long Bridge in Metairie is being widen. The TIMED program is the reason why Jindal thinks private industry can run government better, but he fails to realize that this only works if private companies can make a profit, which it took a 0.4 cent gasoline tax to fund the TIMED Program. Unlike the TIMED Program, most State programs are not funded by some additional tax, which is why Jindal wants to replace income and personal property tax with higher sale tax.

These same people. Would turn their back on Jindal if he had to run again.

Most definitely they will. They are using Jindal to keep their name clean, but working behind the scenes to get what they want. Roy O. Martin is another name that keeps popping up when Jindal makes appointment. His family damn near owns or own leasing rights to almost all the forest land in Louisiana.
