Archie Manning’s jersey was a Plan B for Jim Harbaugh

PEARL, Miss. — Jim Harbaugh spends plenty of time mulling over his attire before each and every satellite camp.

His trip to the Magnolia State on Wednesday was no exception.

Michigan’s coach donned an old-school Archie Manning jersey before attending the Pearl High School Satellite Camp in Mississippi. However, he revealed the former Ole Miss great was his second choice.

Harbaugh originally intended to honor another Mississippi college football legend.

“I played with Walter (Payton) in Chicago, so I tried to find a Jackson State Walter Payton jersey,” Harbaugh said during the satellite camp. “I couldn’t find it down here, and I had the Archie one, so I went with that.”

I actually made a recommendation when Coach Rob retired that at that time Doug and Coach Rob should have been signing Doug's jersey on the day Doug was announced as coach for the price of $500 a piece.

the only place I knew that sold Walter Payton jerseys was sports avenue. that store in metrocenter

Did he explain where he looked to find a jersey?
Now that was my question, because the bookstore was open and they have plenty of Peyton jerseys. I asked coach Hughes the other day did Jim ask him about a peyton jersey and he so no. Like duh, ask the coach where the player came from first before you say you can't find one. I was told the one he had on wasn't even his, it was some coach at pearl high schools jersey.. Hughes could have gotten him one. But ok.

The bookstore and the jersey shore in north park also on top of the dynamics and other college and Greek apparel shops. So Dnt say you can't find not one in Mississippi. Hell Jim flew in and flew right bck out preparing for another camp so finding that Peyton jersey wasn't important to him anyways. Trust me he wore what he wanted to wear from the heart.

I have told people at GSU that we should sell Doug Williams Jersey's and allow him to personally autograph them.

I don't wear jerseys anymore but I still actually have a throwback Doug Williams Grambling jersey that I bought from mitchell and ness like 15 years ago somewhere in my closet.
