WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Bush's daughter Jenna plans to live in the District of Columbia and teach at a public school serving low-income children.

Jenna Bush, 22, graduated last spring from the University of Texas with a degree in English.

She campaigned with her father during the summer and fall as he sought re-election but said she hoped to teach at a charter school after the election.

A spokesman for first lady Laura Bush, Gordon Johndroe, confirmed that Jenna would go to work for a public school in Washington but declined to disclose where she has applied for a teaching position or other details

Why so, Fort? If she has a genuine interest in their well-being and education, what's wrong with her teaching? Her mother started her career in education.

Hell, she obviously is NOT doing it for the money ...

Tsk, Tsk, Tsk, I hear tell of a dynamic woman from U.A.P.B that used to drank and kick it in college yet ended up being an award winning teacher, wife, and mother in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.

Hmmm, I wonder who dat is?
:hat:

Man, I'd hire her for political reasons alone.

Do you think any school that hires her will hurt for isht??

The school with get "new" everydayum thang.

I think this actually is a good thing. As 2.0 noted, I'd want her at my school. Talk about the clout she can bring.

I would not want her teaching my children. My opinion is probably based on my pre-conceived notions about her. But hey, she's doing her thang.

The school that gets her will have to put up with the clout that she will bring as the daughter of the President. Other than that, she has the creditials, so do da dayum thang.

Good for her...she can't do any worser at her job, than her dad is, at his.

 Matter of fact, she can start by helping him with English/grammar.

But good for her! It's obvious, she's not doing it for the money. I hope she makes a positive influence in those kids' lives.

Leave her alone and let her make her way. Good move for Jenna. I do not attack the children of politians.

What are your pre-conceived notions? That she's has a DWI...she got drunk in college...she screwed a couple of people...she smoked some weed....she does not look any different than me...with the exception of smoking weed. Honestly, if she was not the presidents daughter you would not have heard about any of if. Furthermore, she's doing what the average college student should be doing in college....getting an education and kicking it!!!

With the exception of the DWI, she had the same college experience that I did.

I bet none of the parents (of her class' kids) will come up there, acting a dayum fool with her (over their child's behavior/grades).....

You can well believe that ain't no dependent of the president during the time of war is without a Secret Service Agent.

Immediate family does get SS protection.

Even living former presidents like Clinton, Bush 1 and Jimmy Carter get protection.

I remember reading somewhere that Chelsea Clinton's SS support had to rough up a few frat boys when she was in college. lol

if jenna is teaching, what is the other one doing? :goodbad:

i ain't mad at her.....teach on. she looked like the daughter with the most sense anyway. hell, i have seen "worser" teachers.
