In May, EJ received his first college offer, from Jackson State. He got the news when he was at an annual gala for the Pat & Emmitt Smith Charities. For Emmitt, it was a sweet reminder of the first college offer he received, from the University of Florida—and a sign of many more letters to come. Since then, EJ has rushed for 1,301 yards and 26 touchdowns and caught 42 passes for 617 yards and six scores. And he has received offers from Georgia, Kentucky, Ohio State and SMU.

But did Emmitt himself visit FAMU or BCU? I am sure they offered him when he came out of Pensacola Escambia HS. So what’s his mindset? That translates over to the kid.
I know it will not happen, but it would be nice. One of my boys from high school went to Yale, and so did his son, but he still made him apply to Morehouse, Howard and Hampton. He also took him to visit. He said he wanted his son to at least see what those schools had to offer just in case he ever wanted to leave Yale. He wanted him to know what they offered instead of listening to what his peers would tell him to negatively affect him.

What kind of athlete is he? What position does he play?
RB playing for historical ntx power Jesuit, if memory serves correct. Jesuit sued the uil to let them in (then 5A) and now they are a 6a hs participating in the uil. They are an anomaly, if they haven’t moved their campus. In the hood just below garland/mesquite but ne dallas.

I have a real problem with private schools being able to participate in uil. They play by a different set of rules...always have and can give them an unfair advantage

I’m on the fence. Saw the recruiting the priv schools do, so I was against it. Since a few seeds matriculated, I saw how they & their classmates/teammates wanted to compete against others instead of just aau et al priv schools.

Remember Denzel Washington’s son was offered a scholarship to play football. I heard that Denzel told the coach that he could pay his way. His son was a good RB for the Morehouse for 4 years.

Then attend a public school. Public schools are not allowed to recruit. How many non-athletes are recruited and given financial aid to attend parochial/private schools?

I get your point and being from Texas I know you understand where I am coming from. Private schools are raping inner city schools of athletic talent and it did not just begin. If an athlete gets hurt at a private school and can no longer produce and cannot afford to pay his or her own way....public school here they come. I have seen it many times.
