Jackson State University Tigers NSD 2016

There is another preferred walk on from New Orleans area. He's the son of Lawrence Jefferson who attended JSU in the 80's with his brother Jimmy Jefferson. They where known as the Karate kids. Those boys were and are hell in martial arts. Jimmy called me on his way to the signing event to support his nephew

You do realize one of Jax sons plays on that team. LOL.

That does not mean anything... The dumbest statement in the world is.. "i went there or Im from there... how you gonna tell me... blah blah blah.." and besides Jax not too smart... lol

JSU got a couple of gems in Roddy from East Fel and Sullivan from Zachary. Did the 2 backs from Belaire sign?
Sullivan was the back that we had to have. D. Profit is awesome, but I knew it would be an uphill battle getting him to flip from SU. Glad we were able to get him and the RB from AL.

I think Roddy is a project. I'd like to see him drop about 30 lbs, but he has some athleticism to be that size. He's not tall, so I think Hughes will have to bring him down to about the 290- 295 range. Having said that, I'm not sure what our defensive philosophy is or how they intend to use these linemen. If he's a 0- or 1- technique DT, then he might be able to play next season. If he's 2- or 3-technique he may need to redshirt and hit a treadmill. LOL

2 or 3 technique, and his ass will be running up a levy all Summer to build strength in his legs/thighs and drop some weight.

Smarter than you. Even on a bad day. Lol

If I'd compiled a big board of our known RB targets, my list would've looked like this:

1. Terrell Kennedy
2. Barrick Slaughter
3. Terry Sullivan
4. D. Profit
5. Daquan Hicks/Darius Miller
6. Jordan Johnson

I would've been ok with any 2 of the top 4 names on that list and any 1 of the bottom 3 names. We ended up with 4 total which is a very good haul at one position.

I've never heard of Barrick Slaughter. I must've missed his recruitment amongst the billions of Hudl highlights I've seen. I think Profit and Sullivan would be a good 1-2 punch. Kennedy could fill that role just as good or even better because of his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield. Can't wait to see how this all shakes down over the course of the next 4 years.

Man Roddy strong as a damn Bull and can run. He ain't no project. Question is, can he get in school and stay in school.

Lmao bra, Ain't now way they had Sullivan over Profit lmao. Sullivan got yards because folks keyed in on their QB.

I probably shouldn't have said "project"....what I meant is that he could stand to lose some weight to be an every-down lineman. That may require him redshirting. In terms of his game, he's definitely D1 material. I'm not really sure who is or who isn't qualified at this point (save for two signees who double-signed yesterday), but if he can qualify, we have the academic structure in place to help him remain eligible.

He will play if first year, if he makes it. He started both ways in High school.
