Re: JSU player pulls about-face, quits team.....

We were actually surprised when he showed up at JSU. We recruited him but we were told in the spring that he was going the JUCO route in hopes to land a 1-A offer in two years. Then, to our surprise, he showed up.

If he stays with JSU, he will have to do a lot to convince me that he deserves a Tiger uniform. Coach Hughes would have just told him not to come back.... EVER!! lol One thing about our old coaching guard, Hill, Gordon, Carson and Hughes....if JSU was not in your heart, we didn't want or need you. If you transferred to JSU later, yo azz was third string unless there was a REAL need for your services.

Yeah..that's true..I talked to Gordon bout a month ago at Greenbriar Mall...I have much respect for the man :tup:.

Re: JSU player pulls about-face, quits team.....

He can to go CO-LIN and then Go to Ole Miss! (I'm sure thats Nutt's Plan)

the Kid is Talented though... I Wish him Well!

and let me find out that MSU got something to do with this  You know they MAD right now.

How is this not tampering?

That's exactly what it is. And the JUCO that I believe it is did the same thing to Southern Miss last year.....a big DT from the same area as Richardson. Convinced him that he could be at an SEC school in two years. He left a week into two-a-days, just like Richardson did.

Re: JSU player pulls about-face, quits team.....

Pearl River CC, (the juco in my hometown) is quick to do that...

Re: JSU player pulls about-face, quits team.....

Damn, yall can't even out recruit a juco?

On the real...it happened with Gram except our kid was a prop who wasn't gonna be eligible. You would think that the NCAA would implement a rule that a kid could not enroll at a juco if he's cleared the clearinghouse and is eligible to play. But I guess this is in essence moving down... maybe having to obtain a release to go elsewhere is the way to control this.

Re: JSU player pulls about-face, quits team.....

Thanks guys it's great to see SWAC love/support. Keep it up

Just when I started to feel sorry for jSU, they are now blaming the Bayou CLassic for the kid leaving.

CLARIONLEDGER
If Jackson State would leave the SWAC, then they wouldn't have problems like this. When your conference says that we're not good enough to compete in the D-1AA playoffs, then other leagues that do are going to attract the best and committed athletes out there. I guarantee that those JUCO coaches made that argument to Richardson. So, JSU and the other schools have to deal with stuff like this so that Southern and Grambling can play in that rooty poot Bayou Classic. What a shame? Good conferences "find" a way to make things work. Doesn't look like the SWAC is making much of an effort to make things work.

The Mississippi JUCO system is the best in the nation. Others may have one or two squads, but the Mississippi system has about 6 national contenders yearly. If you don't pay attention, you'd be surprised at the who's who of names that have gone through them JUCOs to play for now-BCS schools and on to the NFL. Florida State is notorious for sending kids over here for 2 years. These kids got their eyes in the sky, and don't mind jumping through unnecessary hoops in hopes of playing for some school that didn't want you out of high school. Grades is one thing. If you don't have 'em, you can't go. But when you're totally qualified, and they still don't offer you, it should tell you somethin. Yet and still, we hang on to hopes of joining them.

TP is right. From Hughes on back, they didn't give a crap about any player that didn't have JSU in his heart. If they thought you wanted to be somewhere else, they'd help you get there. Just get the hell away from JSU. And they took very few transfers. You didn't wanna come then, so don't come now was pretty much the attitude.

At any rate, I hope the kid stays. If he doesn't, I wish him well.

Don't understand his thought process in wanting to go to Ole Miss or Miss State. What reciever has either one of them sent to the league. jSU has a long history of sending reciever's to the league.

He is listening to the wrong people if he balls out at JSU he has a shot at the league! Chris Johnson and Jaymar Johnson from the 2007 JSU squad both are playin for a spot in the league right now!

Some things you just don't say, but ain't nothing Coach Comegy can say. This guy is a kid after his own heart.:shame:

Season tickets are garunteed money. Don't have to worry about weather, opponent, or a losing season hurting attendance. I understand, but don't necessarily agree with his approach.

All true. Especially with so many of our ticket purchasers/heads of households being women. If the prediction is rain, those late week walk up sales are slashed. Plus the more tickets you can sale sometimes has an impact on the payout for FBS games. That is why Miami has always paid us well. We have been in some of their highest attended home games.

If the kid want to leave, good bye. Many Juco players from the Mississippi system have came to JSU. Lavarius Giles CO/07, a New Orleans Saints draftee, now CFL star came to JSu from Miss. Delta CC and he is one of the fastest men in track today. Kenny Bryant CO/99 came to JSU from Hinds and he was drafted into the NFL. Corey Bradford CO/99 ?? came to JSU from Hinds and now he is in the NFL. Comegey has recruited HInds very heavily and got some great players since his arrival.
There are numerous players who do come to JSU from Hinds but if they want to go somewhere else let them go.
This is a case of SEC coaches wanting to get some of those great talented players from what they consider less talented teams.
All swac schools deal w/this type of situation
JSU vs MSU/OLE piss/USM
SU vs LSU/LATECH/ULL
GSU vs LSU/LATECH/ULL
BAMA st vs/UA/Troy/Auburn
