Is was told by a good friend of mine that Tulane wants to open up the 2013 season against Jackson State in the superdome on 8/31/13. Any JSU fans know anything about this?

I was told last summer that we were in negotiations with a FBS school for a game in 2013 but no name was given.

They don't have cell phone coverage in the deep country, so therefore Tiger Pride can't respond until he gets back to Philly. Yall gotta call him over the can line system to get the info. :emlaugh:

jsu has "homer" schedules when it comes down to scheduling FBS teams out of Mississippi. i would be surprised if this happens.

The LSU Tigers and the Tulane Green Wave are in discussions for a possible game at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in 2013, The Times Picayune has reported.

The game could be the season opener for both schools, although details are still being worked out. The two schools, separated by only about 80 miles, haven’t met since a 42-0 LSU win in 2009. The Tigers lead the overall series 69-22-7.

LSU and Tulane previously had a 10-year contract, but the Tigers canceled the deal in order to gain flexibility in their future scheduling. That resulted in LSU facing North Carolina in the 2010 Chick-fil-A College Kickoff game.

At the time of the cancellation, LSU senior associate athletics director Verge Ausberry said that the Tigers were attempting to schedule a game with Tulane in 2013. That stipulation was part of the cancellation agreement.

If the game is to occur, there will have to be some resolution on the future SEC scheduling format. LSU already has three non-conference games slated for 2013: TCU (9/7), UAB (9/14), Furman (10/26). The Tigers can add a fourth non-conference game if the SEC stays with an 8-game conference schedule, which is likely at least for the next couple of years.

Tulane is slated to host South Alabama on Sept. 7 and travel to ULM on Sept. 14. With Conference USA and the Mountain West set to merge in 2013, those schools will likely play three non-conference games per season.

Did you bother to notice the date on this article(Mar 13, 2012)...LSU's schedule for 2013 has been set in stone since this summer and their opener for 2013 is TCU at Cowboy stadium 8/31/13...which is probaly why Tulane has moved on to JSU

Yea what DCG said. I am not sure jsu will have a coach next year though. Looks like Comegy don't want to be bothered with jsu any longer not that they are well coached anyway. jsu probably should just stay with what they know (Delta State).

Why didn't you put this on the smack page I have something to say:emlaugh:

Why smack.
Even though Miss State is a in state school and we would come out better on the check end, Tulane is no Miss State. I would rather play them than a proven SEC team that hold their own against the best week after week. I would rather play Tulane as for as the game than USm or Ole Miss.

We actually got a chance against Tulane with a good JSU team.

At least we can beat really good D2 teams.
What about SU?

Naw it wasnt him. I dont read anything he says. It was actually one of the good SU dudes that got caught in that lie.

Im cool with playing FBS schools in a 12 game season and New Orleans for Labor Day weekend could be a good road trip for JSU fans.
