Beans, do they play it all the time?...yes. But next time pay attention to when they play it. It is only played BETWEEN plays and time outs.
 



Lemme see if I can explain this one more time.

The bands can play at any time except for the time between the time the huddle breaks and the ball is snapped. Big 10 bands, SEC bands, PAC-10 bands all do. Nobody plays more than Southern Cal. Its not a difficult concept. Follow the dots here ...

You have to think like a Pep Band. Hit 'em with stuff short and quick. I have told y'all again and again: you need about 30 sninppets of 8-12 bars each. There should be a band playing on EVERY change of posession, timeout, first down, and sack. You just have to be ready to play. The best I have heard at it is U of Alabama.
 
During the JSU vs SU game it was announced that the bands cant play period when the ball is in motion and that meant on kickoffs as well.
 
also DaCon, they can not play during any kickoff...whether its a punt or after a TD

So that leaves timeouts and end of the quarter selections

Yea that one is his own doing. Not playing on kickoffs is pretty stupid since its right after a TD, thats celebration period right there. The rest i can understand but the kickoff thing is not a good idea.
 
The crazy things about these rules they aren't enforced at every game, just certain ones. The SWAC refs need to be fair and enforce these rules for every game and every school because i know for a fact not only these two schools should have got the warnings.

Another example of any attempt to split hairs. It doesn't matter who gave the order, the fact of the matter is that the rule has been broken.
 
I think the rule is BS, too. But, if the directors and bands are IN TUNE with what's happening on the field, they can get it in at key points without any problem.
 
blah! University of Michigan has the loudest everything and nobody tells them to shut up. i did hear that they making Alabama crimson tide stop the cow bells so if they are starting a crackdown they just basing it with hbcu's first

and I just made it clear that its not actually the NCAA....its the SWAC and to back them up on this is stupid....there are such things as stupid rules....

like it or not, SWAC bands have integrated themselves into SWAC Football and its been like that for decades....NO OTHER CONFERENCE has bands like ours and they should be treated as such....i'm not talking about band's battling one another...i'm talking about the overall atmosphere of the game.....you guys can't sit here and lie saying that this ish would fly during your time in college...heyal, even a few years after you grad.....

and the way the bands are getting fugged over and it's a shame yall don't realize that

Bands take too long during halftime...aight, instead of a 12 minute show, let's bring it down to 8 minutes
Bands play too much during the game.....aight, only let them play during timeouts and end of the quarter
Bands stay too long after the game.....aight, only give them 30 minutes

pretty soon its gonna be...

Bands get to the game too early....aight, only allow them to march in 30 mins b4 the start of the game

i'm still waiting on them to stop those cowbells from Mississippi State since this is a NCAA thing...aren't those artificial noise as well?

SWAC is a part of the NCAA. So why should the rules not apply to the conference? Bands should have been knowing the rules earlier than this. I just gave some of you an example of how to get some playing time in between plays, timeouts, and end of a qtr.

They fining Mississippi State $5 grand for the first offense, $25 grand for a second, and up to $50 grand for a third.
You want the SWAC to start leveling penalties against SWAC bands like that.

There was an article in the C/L saying Miss. State had 1 more chance. They don't do right this weekend, they gonna ban them all together and start leveling those fines.

agrees again. i mean hell whats the point of all those drummajors and band directors. i think bands should actually practice this bc it can be done. i love hearing the show, rocks the house, and big ballin like everybody else but the drummajors should also be aware that they are at a football game and the band can be used to help the team

And like I said earlier....i'm still waiting on the NCAA to kill all those other artifical noises from other schools out the SWAC.....you think those schools are going to GAF what the NCAA rules state? fugg no....

i'm using that statement bcuz according to NCAA rule...bands = artifical noise and thats illegal....

SWAC bands helps make the game atmosphere that much better....

realize both bands are breaking the rules here....BUT, look how exciting the game is bcuz they were playing...
 
Realize i'm not saying bands should be playing at every/all time

But the Boom got reprimanded off a kickoff after a TD, wtf kinda BS is that?
