sheesh, what's up with all of you jsu folks getting defensive.
:smh:

I simply made a comment on what I saw.

ummm, if those highlights of what I saw are any indication of what he'll do in Mobile, then yall in wayyyyy more trouble than I already imagined.

After watching the video, I'm still trying to figure out which is faster----that QB or cold molasses??

oh well....

He will probably do fine for JSU as as long as he is not required to make reads and win the game with his arm. He played for a running offense and his fundamentals aren't that great.... and that was why no one in the west was interested. When you look at the tape they show the same TD passes from different camera angles. This is an old recruiting trip to make it look like he is throwing a lot TD's. He should do fine in the conservative offense of JSU.

1. Portland State(Oregon) was one of the schools recruiting him. I guess they aren't in the west.

2. The highlight tape might be skewed, but the stats aren't. He piled up those numbers despite missing time due to injury and not playing a lot of the 2nd half of games.

3. Their offense wasn't run based. It was multiple-type system that required a little bit of everything.

4. One of Haren's strengths was his ability to make the right reads on offense.

Jackson State University is in a whole lot of trouble. The slump will continue. I am very suprised the Blue Bengals have not lodged a protest after this recruiting year. It pains me to see one of our former formidable teams continue to go on a downward spriral. I can only imagine how the true blue football Jacksonians really feel. Some of the recent moves jsu has made makes Hughes look like God's gift to the gridiron.

mh knows what he saw and if that QB has sub 6.0 speed then something is wrong. LOL
I won't even get on that "strong" arm of his and those "crisp" passes I saw.

but I digress, if yall are overjoyed with the guy, so be it. Besides, it's preseason and this is the time of year that JSU folks will say they have the best players, best team, and best coaching staff, etc..

September will be here soon.

(and OCTOBER follows)

Quality of competition (or lack thereof)

That video was so "interesting"

The hate is so obvious. Sub 6.0???

mh,

I guess the bowl game opponent sucked, too, huh???

thedesr,

169.4 QB passer rating. I'll take a QB with that kinda production any day. No fundamentals, terrible mechanics and inability to read a defense and all. Funny how he completed about 69% of his passes, but can't read a defense. What do you think he'd complete if he could read a defense.

As for the video, no tricks involved. How many bombs do you need to see to see that he can complete a deep pass??? How many options he gotta run before you accept that he can do it??? How many completions he gotta make before you say, he's not bad.

This kid is good for because he is not the type to make mistakes. He doesn't mind playing within the system, which is more important than anything else. He makes the proper reads and hits his receivers. I'm happy he's on my team.

ummm rob,
Now you know the sub 6.0 was a stretch.
(but if I say sub 5.5, then I might not be joking LOL)

but go ahead and prop this guy up as the 2nd coming (kinda like how this time last year, yall were propping up Bell as the 2nd coming) :scared:

oh well, c'mon September!

I know a little about this QB since he played against some kids I coached. You do not want to use Portland State as an example because the local recruiter for the bay area has no credibility at all. He is a nice guy but has NO Pull at all (sad to say he is a brother). Most of the HS school coaches ignore him when he comes by.

Like I said he not a top QB but he will do fine in the conservative offense at JSU. If you are a top (really top) JUCO QB he would not be going to a last place D1AA team (no smack intended), he would be going to a top or middle of the road D1 school. We have the top 3 of the top QB coaches in the nation sitting within 20 miles of his school. Coach Tedford at Cal would of jumped on him he was all of that, as well as San Jose State who lost their QB to graduation. San Mateo is only 10 miles from Stanford who was crap last year. If he was all that (being white) he would not be at JSU he would be at one of these school out west. I do believe he will help JSU based on their offense scheme, but he is not someone that is going to set the world on fire.

So basically you're saying that he isn't any good because he wasn't recruited by any D-1A schools? If that's the case, then no SWAC QB would be any good. We didn't say this man was going to save our season. But he is a candidate to start for us.

And didn't we have a long thread on Haren a few months ago?

We all get excited about our recruits and how they are going to make a major impact. I agree with you that he is a solid recruit for your system, who is most likely to start because he is a Juco. JUCO QB typically come in with the expectation to start because they do not have that much time left. We will see how he does in a couple of weeks.

First of all we signed 2 JUCO QBs, not to mention the other returning QBs so its not guarantee he'll start. Its all up in the air. If Haren starts, he'll do well for us.

Wow, you signed 2 JUCO QB's in the same year. I would be pretty upset to come in as a JUCO without some guarantee or assurance that they will get an honest shot. How many QB's do you have on the roster? I presume Haren is the air apparent to start?

We have 4 QBs on the roster. None of the guys were promise anything but a chance to compete. Haren was the last one to sign, so he knew the deal going in.

Interesting.... the last to sign with already 4 on the roster and one JUCO signed ahead of him...

I wonder will he be better than Jacoby(SU) or Kornblau(GSU)?

Im sure Bell will bring Haren along to be one of the premier Qbs in the SWAC conference...

Well, if any of you want to see the video, you can....I promise you won't see what MH saw. The kid can do it all. ....run, pass and read defenses. I must admit that he made some throws in double coverage that he should not have but he had confidence in his WR and according to his stats, they did him proud most of the time. He can throw the ball deep and he is elusive. He is also very good for our system because they did use the run to set up the pass if you look at the stats.....and no, those were not the same passes from different angles....most of the shots are from differnent games and differnet distances.

Bell is a recruiting master bruh..

Green has one year left.
Matthews has two years left
Haren has three years left and
McLaurin has 4 years left.

McLaurin outperformed Green in the Spring and I expect the same in the preseason. So unless Green improves a lot, the JUCO QB's are going to put in at 4th string.

Let GR sign in before he gets accused of running (even though GR doesnt know what he is running from).

What is the issue here....GR musta missed something.
GR assumed this was discussed in Feb. Is GET READY wrong?

TP,
Did the video look like a Pop Warner game to you? It certainly did to me.
Slow players, wounded ducks as throws, smallish LBs, dwarf DBs

Just all around unimpressive, but if yall are excited by this, then so be it. Could be an indication of your lack of confidence in any other QB you have on your roster.
Something to think about.....

MH,

You all used to sign California JUCO's all the time. It is well known that they have one of the most elaborate JUCO systems in the nation. That team was top notch and head and shoulders above the competition. San Mateo is a JUCO powerhouse. Pop Warner?? It's JUCO football....what do you expect to see FSU vs Michigan??

I have never seen Matthews play so I can't comment on him....but if Haren is not ready, he will not play. McLaurin is good enough to win for us. It is only our hope that Haren and Matthews live up to the hype. They both had good JUCO careers...Haren only played one year and led his team to a championship.

still no comment about that QB, huh?

I understand GR,
trust me, I do.

:snicker:
MH

GET READY does not understand why you continue to try to goat him into these trivial banters. GET READY knows that no matter how good that kid is, you will only have negative comments about him. That kid could be a mixture of Vick and Favre, but you will say he is slow and has no arm strength. And thats your business....but dont expect GR to try to convince you that he is worthy.

He plays in the Cali JUCO league. Most of those teams would kick a SWAC teams ass out of the stadium. He won there....so hopefully it will translate to the SWAC.

We can now start talking about your slow weak armed QB, but what difference would it make?
