by the next few years, they might as well cancel the SWAC Tournament because we're back with the scholarship allotment. Can't down talk us anymore.

PV has had more talent than AAMU for the past 2 years and they have lost 5 straight games.
 



listening to this Pastner stuff now, he says he got stuff already lined up thanks to his daddy who is a AAU legend in Houston.

He sounds energetic but I don't know how he would fit in at Prairie View. Sounds like he would go out of his way too much to impress folks over there.

Plus, Lute Olsen or another school has not made him a real assistant in his years at AZ. Something is up.
 
I wish we had more talent, if we did they would have made Plummer look like a coaching genius.

we have never had an explosive player since Sharpe left PV in 98. Greg Burks is alright but he is not as good as Tamarron Sharpe.

ASk the SWAC about him.
 
What about the ladies squad PF? You're right about Mr. Sharpe. That boy could flat out play! Bball smarts like crazy! He led that team, not Plummer.

We've begun to turn the corner and return to the powerhouse we once were.
 
These last 3 or 4 teams have been some of the sorriest teams AAMU has ever seen talent wise. Like I have said before, we dont have NO All- State selections. Des wasnt even all-state at Whites Creek. I take that back... Vanlier was. But while in the SIAC, WE HAD TALENT at every position. It would be SCARY to see what those team would have done in the SWAC, just ask Bama St people. We havent had a big man since we were in the SWAC. We had SHAQ in the SIAC, a 6-10 320lb center that probably was the best center to ever play in an AAMU uniform. He DOMINATED and played for the Globetrotters after he graduated. I dont know why, but for some reason, we dont have any talent anymore. Pettaway picked up 2 great players out of Huntsville in the early signing period. One is ranked the 3rd best guard in Alabama, but the white folks in Hville are trying to get him to go to a prep school, so he can sign with an SEC school. If he would have played at AAMU this year Des wouldnt have started.




Talent can only take you so far. In college, it is all about Coaching.
 
DAHILL you had talent when you guys were Div. II because rules are more lenient on Div. II , JUCO and NAIA schools.

That's what I've been trying to convey to you AAMU folks for the longest. When you move up to Div. IA that's when eligibility rules REALLY play a major factor in signing a kid.

Pettaway feels what I'm saying. :lol:

Im not disagreeing with you... While D2, you get a lot of D1 transfers because they dont have to sit out. Just look at Shaw University in the CIAA (also in the Division 2 Final Four right now) three of there starters are from University of Oklahoma and Nebraska.

When we were in the SIAC, we use to beat the hell out of Bama St easily, AAMU even won the first ever game played in the Acadome.

I dont really thing that Eligibility played a major factor because Pettaway isnt going to recruit someone that is dumb in the first place. That may be the reason that the basketball program has a 95% graduation under Pettaway over the last 17 years. We had 2 seniors this year. Steve Ward graduated in 3.5 years and is about to finish his masters. He turned down a good paying job to come back and play his final year of basketball at AAMU. Des is graduating this summer.

I am not trying to hate (because this is the sports board) but a kid can be real smart and just goofed off in school so they don't have the grades. Over half of the kids that have to go other routes are really smart enough to make it. Hat's off to Pettaway for getting his kids to graduate and to play a high level of ball.
 
women also, but if sorry azz Atkins keeps enrolling underachieving guards and lazy ladies we're going to suck regardless.

What baffles me is why Hines is shelling out cash all of a sudden? When we won the tournament he should havve increased the allotment then.
