Is this the beginning of the end to Memorial Stadium?....

The kinda money needed to continue the upkeep and renovations at Memorial is too steep. May as well build a brand spanking new one. Part of the problem is the state has spent millions completing 2 phases of a 3 phase renovation to Memorial. The remaining phase costs millions still, but some people don't wanna give up the stadium after putting a bunch of money into it.

If we owned Memorial, we'd sell it to UMC.

Man....................We have explained our brains out about what you posted.

Bet it won't be 10 post before someone askes the same thing in a different form.

Personally....................As long as people at JSU and IN JACKSON know what the deal is, it's all cool.

Under our persent contract, I'd like to see us gett 100% of the revenue for at least the next 5 years at Memorial.
More money built up when we do get ours on campus.

That's good business but people like to rush things just to prove something.

A consultant will evaluate the stadium's future use for $500,000, according to the bill.

They have already said that retro-fitting Memorial with chairback seating and reducing the capicity to the upper 40's would be too expensive just by the way Memorial is made.

The row's that the benches sit on now are too narrow to install chairback seating.
They would basically have to "re-build" Memorial to do that.

It was started by a PV supporter.
We didn't put it here............................:goof:

OH, move it to the PV forum.

Naw, this issue comes up every 6 weeks. I'm not no where near familiar with what is going on in MS with that stadium. Whatever happens and whenever it happens, I hope it happens in JSUs favor.

It's as if some people don't even read the info about what's going on.

PEOPLE.......................JSU and THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI is not going to build a cracker box stadium.
When it is built, it will be part of the downtown/West jackson renovation.

If they were going to build JSU a 20,000 seat stadium for the cost that Alcorns stadium was, JSU probably would have had one years ago.

We talking anywhere from 55 to 70 million dollars for what EVERYBODY WANT'S BUILT.
This ain't gonna happen over night no matter how many implications of MISSISSIPPI YT AIN'T GONNA DO IT get's slung around.

MEGA PROJECTS TAKE TIME and planning..
They been planning 2 LAKES for 15 years and it's just getting to the serious talks with the core of engineers.

And yet Ole Miss, Mississippi State nor University of Southern Mississippi has this problem.....:uzi::uzi::uzi::uzi::uzi::uzi::uzi::uzi::uzi::uzi::uzi::uzi:

And neither do Alabama and Auburn as opposed to Bamma State and Bamma A@M.

And Neither do LSU and TULANE as Opposed to GRAM and SOUTHERN.

You can apply that to any state that has 1A schools that have been getting the big funding for the last 100 years as opposed to our last 15 years.

Again....................A skyscrapper is not going to appear over night so why would you think a stadium would run through the Mississippi Government on the first serious try.

He!!.....................I'm happy we have gotten this far.
Serious talk about funding, a actual rendering of the stadium, and a revenue windfall through Memorial with NO EXPENSE until this get's wrapped up within the next 5 or 6 years.

I am happy that we have gotten this far as well...

but control and not to give JSU the land ............................:argue2::mad:

With the control.....JSU needs to be collecting on the parking that the faculty, employees of UMC do by the stadium in that fenced in area,,,,,
