Here is the thing-he is NOT talking about HOW that got to be where it is. Nobody wants to talk about that. Lets talk about what the GOP and others have done to that place.
It would be easy to blame the folks who live there but that mess goes BEYOND them.

Eh, cities like Jackson, Memphis, Birmingham, Atlanta and plenty of other cities are violent as hell.
You say this as if Hispanics being the majority is going to be better for us. Hell they don't like us either and a large portion of them vote conservative. Also, there's too many excuses that get made by black folks for the violence in these cities like Jackson, Birmingham, Memphis, Atlanta, St Louis, etc. Many of us grew up in that same system but didn't decide to go murder people just for the hell of it.

Yea, nah. A lot of these kids doing this type shit here in Atlanta grew up better off than most of us on this forum. Same in LaGrange. They ain't doing it because they don't have other options it's because it's fast money and the fact that their parents don't give a shit. They just found a 15 year old here with a whole arsenal of guns and dope in his room in his momma's house. Last year a 14 year old got busted a few miles from us selling guns out of his momma house and these folks lived in a 5br 4ba house. Lack of parenting is far more to blame than "the man." I got hella cousins that took that route because the glam of the dope game was more appealing than getting a job.

Jackson is TERRIBLE! It used to be a nice city I loved to visit as child but now it looks like a warzone.
And to the deflecting Black people blaming it ALL on racism, if Black people worked together and actually did what they supposed to do the city would be in pretty good shape. Jackson USED to have a THRIVING Black business district on and near Fariah Street for years. After integration, Blacks got complacent when patronizing white businesses and that was the death of many Black businesses in Jackson and they never bounced back. The Black leadership of Jackson is corrupt and hinders any progress the city could make. The Black voters of Jackson are too lazy to hold them accountable. The crazy high violent crime in Jackson by Black people keeps investors away and richer people from wanting to move in so the city loses millions in potential tax revenue. The public schools in Jackson are so bad which creates all kind of problems. There are Black churches on every corner only to take money and time away from already struggling Black folks but offer little to nothing to else to better the community it serves b/c CLEARLY Jackson gets worse every year. The bigger issue isn't racism, IT'S BLACK PEOPLE DSYFUNCTION. Jackson started on his spiral decline in the 1990s and it just not has stopped
I said it before and I'll say it again ... it's in the best interest for people to leave and avoid Jxn if they want anything close to a normal and quality life

Yall are soooo busy crying and complaining and placing ALL the blame on the white man instead of taking more accountability and taking the necessary actions and working together to improve our communities. The victimhood mentality that's so pervasive in Black America is killing Black America.
What solution you have? Cry about racism and us needing reparations? We been doing that for over a century and nothing has changed. Additionally, white people are more self-preservationists, we are not, the Black community is very much self-destructive. Black America got so many BIGGER problems that hinders progress over racism

There is plenty of blame to go around on the black side and white side.
Black folks for not voting, voting in the wrong do nothing folks into office, lack of motivation, holding those who are pushing for change down and those who benefit how things are.
White folks for STANDING in the way of black progress, STANDING in the way of city progress, not understanding if one part of the town is bad it's BAD for everyone no matter where you live.
So everyone is to blame.

What folks don't understand is being black is not a one size fits all.
We have black folks who have made it and racism (at least to their knowledge) never got in the way.
While it has for others.
Black Liberation and growth is more than some black owned businesses and a political party.
It's also about holding those who stand in the way that look like us accountable like Clarence Thomas. Who doesn't understand all this stuff he is siding with is actually hurting him in the long run.
He made it without racism getting in the way. He doesn't understand who pushed those barriers out of the way for him like a Thurgood Marshall.

I just hate when folks act like there is no accountability to be had for ourselves. We all know what white folks are on and have for decades. The murder rate in black communities is like ten times that of any other group. It's the reason so many black folks move on to the burbs when they get money instead of considering going back. The violence, even in affluent areas like PG County, is just downright pathetic. The more violent you are the more stripes you get in the hood. Dudes get worshipped like they've actually done something positive for the community. Unfortunately for those that leave to get away from the bs, eventual gentrification just drives that toxicity right back into their neighborhoods.
Those kids where some gang members came and shot up their graduation were right around the corner from me. In those neighborhoods folks have money and violent crime as a whole was nonexistent up until the past 2 years or so. The HOA, black folks, fined them folks $10,000 for bringing that type nonsense to the neighborhood. Some folks want better than the bullshit but as long as folks give it a pass nothing will happen.

As someone mentioned, they won't tell the whole story of the GOP's intentional neglect of Jackson and doing everything in their power to keep Jackson where it is (including paying businesses to not locate in Jacksona, tax breaks, etc)
All the building up that is happening in Ridgeland, Madison, Flowood and Richland should be happening in Jackson
