Is it time for a black chairman of the fed?

Loyalty & Respect

Come on Mr. President... let's make history.

Whew this is a hard one....not the issue of a black chairman but the choice. Dude is phenomenal and I'm surprised he is not part of the administration in a strong appointment.

Yeah. Ferguson should have the job now. Greenspan recommended him, but Bernanke got the job. I wish Ferguson hadn't quit though. If he had stayed Vice Chairman, I think it would be hard to deny him the position at this point.

He resigned when he was passed over for Bernanke. Can't really blame him, but I wish he had hung in there. He is very well-qualified though.

I hate to say this, but I wonder if that's the real reason he wasn't selected the first time ....

Bush appointed her though as an SEC Commissioner. From what I read, the neo-conservatives in the Bush Admin didn't trust him. Ferguson is/was a known democrat. He wasn't a supply side fundamentalist like Greenspan.

I have read that too, but I think that's a weak excuse. When it comes to doing what's best for the economy, I think many of those decisions - on a fundamental level - get away from partisan politics. You raise interest rates or you lower them. Tighten supply or increase supply.

Sure, you can make economics partisan but Greenspan served both Republican and Democratic Presidents. It doesn't have to be partisan.

Come on now, you know ain't no sister gone give that dude play. Well older they might, but at a young age, that dude didn't stand a chance. :emlaugh:

Sad, but true. Treated him like pure crap all of his life. Dude has probably never seen or touched a Black pussy in his entire life. :smh:

I bet they got him to do their homework for them with a little seduction.

In Tug of War Over New Fed Leader, Some Gender Undertones

WASHINGTON — President Obama’s choice of a replacement for the Federal Reserve chairman, Ben S. Bernanke, is coming down to a battle between the California girls and the Rubin boys.

Janet L. Yellen, the Fed’s vice chairwoman, is one of three female friends, all former or current professors at the University of California, Berkeley, who have broken into the male-dominated business of advising presidents on economic policy. Her career has been intertwined with those of Christina D. Romer, who led Mr. Obama’s Council of Economic Advisers at the beginning of his first term, and Laura D’Andrea Tyson, who held the same job under President Clinton and later served as the director of the White House economic policy committee. But no woman has climbed to the very top of the hierarchy to serve as Fed chairwoman or Treasury secretary.

Ms. Yellen’s chief rival for Mr. Bernanke’s job, Lawrence H. Summers, is a member of a close-knit group of men, protégés of the former Treasury Secretary Robert E. Rubin, who have dominated economic policy-making in both the Clinton and the Obama administrations. Those men, including the former Treasury Secretary Timothy F. Geithner and Gene B. Sperling, the president’s chief economic policy adviser, are said to be quietly pressing Mr. Obama to nominate Mr. Summers.

That's why I wish Ferguson hadn't quit. He's not really in the conversation. If he was still Vice Chairman, this would be a no-brainer.

Yeah, it is going to be tough. I just don't want Larry Summers in that role. After reading Greenspan's book (a good read that I would definitely recommend), I don't think Larry has the ego constraints to run the fed. Every word out of the chair's mouth can impact the markets. I would choose Yellen over him. She has been there for Bernanke's Quantitative Easing program as well.

How their circles line up. If Larry Summers gets the job, I am convinced Sheryl Sandberg is the luckiest woman alive
