Is it the SWAC fault a team is not playing in the FCS Playoffs?

We focus on university of faith while forgetting PV had 5 of the worst FCS teams on their schedule Valley AAMU TSU JSU and UAPB.

1) Yet using the SRS system still rated higher than a playoff team UNH
2) BCU beat your ranked school and still got snubbed

Like some have said, we too busy bickering among ourselves (and trying to shade) to care about the bigger pic

What rank school did BCU beat.

But there were 8 other teams ahead of PV who did not get in over UNH either.

Um....they don't count. Lol

I mean where was all this concern when the Bama school had great records but miss the SCG because either JSU or the other Bama school beat them in the head to head match up?

But you are essentially asking the NCAA to give us one.

Only when it is earned by those teams who have proven themselves within the conferences they compete in. Neither Western Illinois nor New Hampshire have proven themselves worthy of being playoff teams. PV, BCU and NCCU have.

NCAA Core Values

  • The supporting role that intercollegiate athletics plays in the higher education mission and in enhancing the sense of community and strengthening the identity of member institutions.
  • An inclusive culture that fosters equitable participation for student-athletes and career opportunities for coaches and administrators from diverse backgrounds.
  • Respect for institutional autonomy and philosophical differences.
  • Presidential leadership of intercollegiate athletics at the campus, conference and national levels.

The actions of the FCS selection committee are in direct conflict with the bullet points in red not to include a deserving SWAC and MEAC program.

Kenn you wasting your breath on haters that don't want anyone to shine but their schools. We will see how those 6-5 teams do in the first round, they won't do any better than a SWAC or MEAC rep.

The BIG picture is they don't want anyone in our conference to get that kind of exposure to keep athletes thinking they won't get seen nationally playing for an HBCU

Naw, I still have some barking to do. There are still some points that need to be made.

I have to strongly disagree with you on that Kenn. The only area of contention is coming from those who think that PV deserves to get a bid. Trying to paint those who are giving factual evidence and historic patterns as to why they don't and won't get one.

Some to the point of outright lying and accusing people of being against them going.

What BH123 fails to realize, if it wasn't for SU, GSU, and JSU the SWAC would be another dysfunctional conference. If those three schools would have left the SWAC a long time ago for higher grounds, there wouldn't be a SWAC.

The Swac was here long before those schools joined and will be here long after they decide to leave.

SWAC MEAC were never both in the play in game.

In 9 of the 10 play-in games, it was always one or the other.

You forgot SU...

Understood, but that is not my argument.

Except for your school, what happened to the other chartered members??? And like I previously stated, if it wasn't for SU, GSU, and JSU the only remaining chartered member would most likely be in the same shape as the other former chartered members and the SWAC would be just another dysfunctional conference. With the exit of former chartered members except for one, only three schools have kept the conference significantly relevant into the 21st century.

Empirical evidence of how much they value beating southern. Just forget about the fact that we're in identical conference that's rated 31st out of 33.

Forget about the fact that we weren't rank and that our power ranking was lower then theirs at the time. Just that they beat Southern and the NCAA committee should be knocking down their doors to get them in.

This would be comical if it wasn't really so pathetic and sad.

I honestly try not to respond to foolish posts, but if that's the case (using your logic), please explain why the MEAC didn't get any at-large bids. All of their teams finished the season last week.

We can't compare ourselves the MEAC or any other conference when it comes putting ourselves in a more favorable environment.

See, what the teams that schedule these games on Thanksgiving Day don't understand is that the SWAC wants them to have an Equal Opportunity to be selected for the FCS Playoffs. It would not be fair to automatically eliminate certain based upon the date of a football game.

But...you can't turn around and be arrogant and try to use playing on Thanksgiving as leverage to justify keeping another SWA

the fact is your snubbed by basic conference games as if the committee says conference strength is a factor.what can you do if 9 games will hurt you before a down is played? The MVC to them is stronger so you get 3 to 4 conference losses before your eliminated but other leagues are down just because of historical reasons

Here's your history lesso about those who started and why they left.

History
In 1920, athletic officials from six Texas HBCUs — C.H. Fuller of Bishop College, Red Randolph and C.H. Patterson of Paul Quinn College, E.G. Evans, H.J. Evans and H.J. Starns of Prairie View A&M, D.C. Fuller of Texas College and G. Whitte Jordan of Wiley College — met in Houston, Texas, to discuss common interests. At this meeting, they agreed to form a new league, the SWAC.

Rapid growth in enrollment of the state-supported schools made it difficult for the church-supported schools to finance their athletics programs and one by one they fell victim to the growing prowess of the state-supported colleges.

Paul Quinn became the first of the original members to withdraw from the league in 1929. Bishop withdrew from the conference in 1956 and Huston-Tillotson (formerly Samuel Huston) in 1959. The enter-exit cycle continued in 1961 when Texas College withdrew.
