Is it the SWAC fault a team is not playing in the FCS Playoffs?

There are so many fingers that can be pointed at various factors to conclude why the MEAC (and for this year the SWAC) got snubbed. But there is one detail that should not be overlooked: The MEAC and SWAC are BOTH recognized by the NCAA as FCS conferences. And as such, both are ENTITLED to all of the rights/benefits associated with being FCS conferences. Just as both conferences are obligated to comply with all the rules associated with the NCAA as FCS conferences. With that said, we all know that everything with the NCAA isn't fair nor equal, but there is NO WAY in hell the NCAA can rightfully justify allowing five teams from the MVC (including 6-5 Western Illinois, with three conference losses) and four teams from the CAA (including 7-4 New Hampshire with three conference losses), and not give the MEAC or the SWAC just one at-large invite...especially for teams that actually finish near the top in their respective conferences (PV, BCU and NCCU).

You can't penalize teams for the conferences they play in simply because a committee thinks those conferences are inferior to the other conferences.

Looks like a pretty darn good schedule to me. But guess what? You didn't perform.

You missed my point. Obviously if we went and beat Lamar and then beat NDSU in Fargo then there's no way in hell we would have lost in conference play. Where would that put us? That's the reason I used two FBS schools and the words "close loss" to both of them.

Your opinion is your opinion. Leave it at that and stop "trying" to offer a rebuttal to everything. No one is asking for you to agree or disagree.

Well said.

No way. No one can convince otherwise. Can't convince me that a 6-5 Western Illinois team is more deserving a 9-2 BCU team that actually won a share of the MEAC. As I said before, that shows how much respect they have for HBCU football.

When you finally decide to get out your feelings you might just ....

1) Realize real sports isn't played on Playstations

2) Want to stay off any social media if you think you get to dictate who says what, when and how?

Especially if you asked the question.

You should probably take your own advice and adhere to bullet #2.

Is it the SWAC's fault for scheduling games on November 28th when the FCS Playoffs start? I say yes it is and it's a disgrace PV did not get in because they may be playing the best football of any HBCU right now. Just look back that the open dates during the season.

As usual, Black folks blaming other Black folks for something without actually seeing the bigger picture. Eventually that November 28th date would be the reason why Morris Brown and St. Paul College in Virginia are dysfunctional schools. And what really gets me, is how some Black folks actually think that the NCAA and non-HBCU conferences are fighting hard for the survival of HBCU athletics.

I'm sure someone has already blamed the SWAC for the condition of this stadium:

Lmao ......I'm not the one whining like a crybaby or trying dictate what anybody else can or can't rebutt. Or did you miss that part because of all the water in your eyes?

The MVFC is the SEC of FCS football. Didnt they have BOTH championship game participants last season? 6-5 WIU lost to 3 of the top seeds in the playoffs, and beat 3 playoff teams as well. They also got i over other teams with very good records.

It's like saying a 9-2 Sun Belt team should get a top Bowl spot over a 3 loss SEC or Big10 team.

Pretty much

The State of Virginia has already changed the rules where schools like Norfolk State are limited to the amount of student fees or other school funds that can be use as revenue to fund their athletic programs, but I can see it now, Southern, Grambling, and the SWAC are the reasons why Norfolk State can't financially support its FCS programs.

The state's Football Championship Subdivision public schools – Norfolk State, James Madison, William and Mary and Virginia Military Institute – would be capped at 70 percent.

According to the USA Today database from 2012-2013, 80 percent of Norfolk State's athletic revenue and 79 percent of JMU's come from student fees or other school funds.

However, budget figures on a state website indicate slightly lower percentages for both schools. NSU and JMU would be given five years to meet the 70 percent cap.

The Sun Belt would have to go undefeated and beat 1-2 ranked teams and their chances would still be shaky

As crooked as the CFB Playoff Committee is, even I can't see them choosing a 12-0 Boise State team over a 9-3 SEC with the same resume as the same resume as WIU with 3 conference losses.

I'm sorry, but what does that analogy have to do with five teams from the MVFC (that is half of the conference), getting in the playoffs. compared to arguing that only ONE team from each of the conferences be considered. Nobody is dismissing that there are some conferences that are stronger than others, but it is NOT unreasonable for the SWAC or MEAC to ask that ONE team be considered for postseason play.

The Sad Reality of the SWAC is This:

A lot SWAC Alum of "certain" Schools want to keep their "Status quo".

See these "certain" schools hate to the compete because they feel they run the SWAC. When a team like PV comes from nowhere to make noise, they get intimidated.

They are even more scared because PV has basically made the certain "status quo" meaningless and irrelevant. A Meaningless game can be moved without repreussions.

But my main point is this....the old SWAC "status quo" is gone. Now everyone in the conference is getting on equal footing and competition. PV should have been in the FCS Playoffs. Hopefully, more SWAC Schools will continue to upend the old Status quo.

If you haven't noticed Kenn, everytime there is even talk of SWAC Expansion of more teams or getting into the FCS Playoffs, etc. guess which Alums come out the bushes.

Every competitor should want compete against other OOC FCS Opponents.

But this certain SWAC School wants to keep their "status quo".

We don't have an Autobid and never have had one since they officially began giving out autobids.

The Virginia bill that limits student fees actually helps private colleges like Liberty University. Liberty will be able to continue to grow its athletic programs without the stiff competition of the public FCS schools in Virginia. Also, Liberty University received close to a half billion dollars in federal aid in recent years, which were the largest amount that any school in Virginia received for those years. Folks better wake up and realize who are the ones that are working really hard to redistribute monies from HBCU's to predominantly white private Christian Colleges. Liberty University didn't establish a Law School in recent years for nothing.

What schools? Speak on it.

With the 7-Game Mandate coming, I propose an addendum be added that bans all SWAC teams from scheduling Regular Season Football Games during and after Thanksgiving.

This DOES NOT include the SWAC Championship Game and Celebration Bowl.

This whole PV and FCS Playoff debate has told me that we still have a passion for competing in the FCS Playoffs. If a team has a chance to represent our conference, I want them to be able to in the highest favorable environment.

We can start by issuing this addendum.

Once the SWAC ban its schools from playing on or before Thanksgiving, how would that change the picture for SWAC schools getting into the playoffs? Funny how not one school in the MEAC scheduled a regular season game on or before Thanksgiving and not one MEAC team got a bid for the playoffs.
