Have HBCU bands gotten almost as boring as others? Has the Director of HBCU and high school bands lost imagination?
Over the last 5 years it has been rare that I have seen an interesting new prop, different marching style, or performance structure. At MCC at least the marching Hornets tried I magic trick it didn't go off too well but it was at least an attempt. Since I was a little bit disappointed at Magic City Classic 2018 I decided to look at band videos from 2018. Nothing stood out as great with us this year. Maybe I haven't seen them all but as of this morning I have seen a lot. And of course I did happen to watch the Ohio State band "floss" which really was amazing.
