Is it me or do our generation

Man your grandmother would but a bullet in your ass if you spoke to your parents like this.

For my mom she would, but my dad she'll put a slug in his knee caps! Oh yeah ma ma better keep giving me whatever I asked for too!

I think that people just ship more often these days simply because they can.

I have only been at my current company for a little over a year. A good number of my co-workers have been there 20+ years and aren't thinking about leaving. In the short time that I have been there, I have seen numerous people come and go. Some found other jobs, others simply quit without having anything lined up. Although companies are not loyal to workers anymore, that does not mean that it is wise to job hop every time you think things are rough where you are.

Comparing the 20+ workers at my job with the 2-years-or-less ones, I think that the fact that there are so many avenues out there leads to higher turnover. When some of the old heads were in their 20's and fresh out of school, there honestly were not that many jobs in the area that were offering the same pay and/or benefits. In 2007, someone in their 20's could literally go to the company across the street and find a better deal overall.

As far as life in general, I have seen more divorces, breakups, serial monogamy, and so on mainly because it is easy to do so these days without the fear of shame or funny looks. In Georgia, an uncontested divorce only takes 30 days to go through. For the shackers, I have seen situations where someone moved one person out and moved another one in within weeks or even days. I won't necessarily say that this is simply generational since I am now seeing more couples calling it quits after 20 or 30+ years of marriage.

All in all, I just think that most people want things their way as quickly as possible in 2007. This includes the workplace, the home, church, and the marketplace.

You'd be surprised...folks still look at you funny when you tell them you're divorced.

I got and still do get some of the funny looks myself, so I know what you mean. What I was saying is that you definitely see and hear about more divorces and breakups these days than you may have a generation or so ago. When my parents divorced, their families thought that they were crazy. When I got divorced, I had several relatives in my age range who had already been down the same path or who were about to join the crowd.

oh yeah, I feel you.

What everyone else said!!! That's why I don't even try to understand them anymore. I've accepted that some things aren't meant to be understood.
