Southern University baseball coach Roger Cador has been tabbed by Major League Baseball to examine how to pump millions of African-American dollars into a professional sports league that is attempting to play catch up with the NBA and NFL in embracing black culture.

You’ve been told that Commissioner Bud Selig wants to flood the game with black faces because he truly wants to see black faces on the field.

It must be the motive behind creating an 18-person task force to study how to increase diversity in the game, right?

The game doesn’t lack diversity. While whites still account for a large percentage of rosters, Hispanics, Asians and African-Americans create a vibrant melting pot marriage. What the game lacks is the valuable black dollar.

The game doesn't lack diversty, but it lacks African Americans. That's why this specific task force was put together. I think Kendrick missed the mark on this one.

The game is hurting for black dollars in terms of advertising and merchandise revenue. Yeah they make alot of money but in sports you have to expand your market share or someone else will (i.e football and basketball). Its not secret that when we have horse in the race (a dominant horse) we show up. I never watched a baseball game from start to finish except for when Barry Bonds started smashing home runs for records and SU was on tv. Black athletes have always been exciting game changers but importantly they still are a mark of pride for the black community, so we support. I believe this article is spot on. It's all for the love of black money!

Griffey made a mistake by going home to Cincy... Too much history was on his back if you ask me. Then the INJUrIES absolutly derailed his career...

True...Barry Bonds' personality and his relationship with the baseball writers didn't allow him to be embraced like he should have.
 
I think Selig is making a very shrewd business move... we (Blacks) have to recognize the opportunities and "get in on the action". Noticed how many sporting good stores are owned by Middle Easterners? They are located in or near the hood in abandoned Footlockers, 7-11 Stores or whatever and making a mint

Cador has been working with MLB for years on this very topic. I went to a symposium about 5 years ago here in Atlanta on the very same topic. The participants was Coach Cador the head Coach at NC A&T and a host of MLB reps.

Yes I am aware of that. But Cador is not going to go sit down when he retires from Coaching. I can see this becoming a REAL paying gig for him with MLB once he hangs up his coaching cleets. That was my comment was about. Would not shock me if Selig hired him full time.

Maybe part time, but I cant see him doing this full time.
