Is anyone watching Major Leauge Soccer? :wavey:

My wife, son and I got the chance to see a live game between D.C. United with Freddie Adu and the Kansas City Wizards. We went on autograph night and it was great. My son got Freddie Adu's Autograph and Picture taken with him. He also got the Autograph and pictures taken with the rest of the players also. The players were friendly and they stayed at least an hour and did autographs and took pictures with the fans. Freddie Adu was still signing after we left and that was at 10pm. The amthomspher was great is and it is great for families. Anyone looking for a good family event should take their families to a MLS Soccer Event. The players were more friendlier than the NFL, NBA AND MLB Players combine.

The game was great. Even though The United lost, we really enjoyed the game. My wife said if we lived in D.C. we would attend at least seven to ten home games a year. After seeing a live game, it is now my number two sport behind football. It is a very physical sport and you have to have strength and endurance to play. It is a contact sport without pads. My son and I watch the games together every day. We have Direct Tv and they have GOL TV and Fox Soccer Channel. They show Soccer everyday and my son loves it. He is playing year round. Fall Soccer, Indoor Soccer and Soccer in the Spring. He will be trying out for a Travel Soccer Team next year.

We love watching MLS Soccer. The English Premier, Italian Leauge and Spanish Leauge is more exciting than the MLS. But the MLS is gaining ground in terms of popularity in the states and around the world.

Is there anyone here watching MLS Soccer? We sure are and we love it. :tup: :tup: :tup:

nO i AM NOT WATCHING. i AM GLAD THAT some one is. I am a former soccer coach. Like basketball it is a NON contact sport but....
I watch if I am surfing and run across one.
The owner of the KC Attack is agreat guy. He sent 20 charter luxury charter buses (he owns a bus company)to pickup every kid in my school and take them to a game free of course. I still have the gift Sweatshirt.
 
NO!!! I am sorry, IMHO, soccer is a very boring sport to watch. It's like watching cross country running with a goal at the end of the trail. All that damn running and the score is 2-1. The most exciting moment in the history of organized soccer was when that flat chested girl took her shirt off and showed her training bra.

Wahines, your experience in soccer reminds me of the first time I attended a Hockey Game. It was on a night I was bored and had nothing to do so I went to a minor league hockey game. It was like football on skates. What I enjoyed even more was that when two or more got into a fight, all they did was go into the penalty box to cool off then they went back in (like timeout). Maybe if there were more soccer fields and balls in our neighborhoods more of us would be into soccer. I have no doubts that if a hockey rink were in more of our neighborhoods, you would see more black playing hockey. Just my opinion...,

I agree with you, if they would let them fight in soccer, it would be a lot more interesting. IMHO, fighting is a big part of what makes hockey appealling to the average fan. In addition, players move faster (you can skate faster than you can run) and since the field is smaller, there are more opportunies to score and more shots taken, even if the final score ends up to be 3-2.

Like I always said, IF you watch one of them European soccer matches and you see everyone singing one of them songs while the match is going on, there is a reason, it's because they are bored. Soccer is a boring game to watch.
 
I became a soccer fan while living in Germany for 6 years.

In addition, AAMU has been playing soccer for many years and I have been watching them also. Soccer is a great sports played by all nations. In fact, AAMU have some players in the soccer league.

AA&MU does have players in the league? I need to check that out, I enjoyed watching A&M Bulldog soccer while I was in Huntsville, I befriended the goalie from Milwaukee during my time up that way and watched his maturation during that time.

I am fan of U.S. Nation Team, but I love the Brazian style of play. The Nigerean Nation Team is fun to watch, as well. I made several trips to Dallas to watch FC Dallas make a tremendous run this year. They have partner with the Fresno I.S.D. to build a 20K+ state of the art stadium with luxury suites and all.
 
What teams does the guys from AAMU play for?

Soccer is not boring and it is a very exciting sport that is physically demanding.

We love DC United also. We are going to see them again in September or October.

I found out also that if the Richmond Kickers can win their U.S. Cup Game. They will play DC United here in Richmond.

It is good to know that their are some serious Soccer Fans.

Dont be hatin on the BARONS. Our High School Team was sorry, but out AYA and Base teams were good. Our base team would always lose to Wiesbaden. THey would import former college players.

Lewis, remember now I was FORCED to coach that sorry, boring, game. My boss gave meno option.
Lewis, get to know it and it is an exciting game. It is the number 1 sport and the most watched sport in the world. Now I will admitt that it is 10 times more exciting in person.

Thank you. A future super bowl MVP and others played one or two games as backs. They could score from one end of the field to the other.
 
I do know about soccer. As you can see from above, I lived in Germany for 3 years and played some soccer while I was over there. Some people love it, but to me it is boring. You can run 50 yards down the field, and when you get there, some fool kicks the ball back the other way. In football, if that happens, you can just find someone with a different color shirt on and knock the crap out of them, but in soccer, if you ain't got the ball, ain't much to it but running.

To me, figure skating is also boring. Just my opinion. Now I kinda liked the indoor soccer better.

Lewis one must have speed to play soccer, it is not for guys like you who run a 100 yard dash in 2 minutes.

"We've got to rally the troops, get the Band-Aids out and try to get 11 guys on the field to play on Aug. 17," said U.S. coach Bruce Arena, looking ahead to the World Cup qualifier against Trinidad and Tobago at East Hartford, Conn. "The travel, the heat, the field conditions, the officiating, it took a huge toll on us. We lost four players the other night to the team that got the fair play award." ...
 
Naah.I can't get into it. Too boring.
Soccer does not reflect the attitudes and the FAST PACE lifestyles of Americans like football and basketball. In those 2 sports the scoring is much faster and there is a time limit. Americans want to see the outcome quick;they don't have time to see a game dragged out;too many things to do,too many places to be.
The media and major sports companies really tried to hype Soccer up to the public. The soccer ads are more exciting than the actual game.I think they are trying make up for a ratings drop for Summer. The Summer is the slow month for sports for networks. Then again who want to be in the house in the warm months watching a boring game.
 
I sure do. My son and I watch Soccer almost everyday since we now have Direct Tv. We will be watching AC Milan of Italy & Chicago Fire of the MLS at 9 PM on GOL TV on Direct Tv channel 614.

The English Premier, Italian Leauge, Spanish League, French Leauge and the German League plays a more exciting brand of Soccer. The MLS is catching on and it will be a top 5 Sport within the next 5 years or less.

I watch the CONCACAF Gold Cup live on Univision. Many missed opportunities for both squads during the game, especially the U.S.
 
I watched the A.C. Milan & Chicago Fire Game last night. Chicago had a great chance to win the game or come out with a draw. They hit the Crossbar twice and had a few other chances to pull one out aganist the Italian Power.

D.C. United will play Chelsea tonight @ 8 P.M. on ESPN2. I will be watching that one tonight. Go DC United :tup: :tup: :tup:
