IPod Vs MP3 player

An iPod is an MP3 player.

iPod is very well-known and is probably the most popular. I guess it all depends on what you want to do with it. An iPod may also be used as a back-up hard drive, you can sync your address book, calendar, and notes to it. Some of the other MP3 players out there allow you to do that and some don't. Microsoft just came out with an MP3 player, Zune (this thread has links to some reviews of the Zune http://www.swacpage.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=66350)

You can probably tell that my preference is the iPod. I have had mine for a little over 4 years and I am very satisfied with it.

hmmm thanks.

I'm thinking about getting my husband one for Christmas, but I don't think he'll have much use for notes and an address book. I might just stick with another MP3 player.

IPOD has the market share on lock. The 30Gig is nice for the price ($249), because it can hold 7,500 songs, pics and movies.

The big advantage to having an IPOD over the other MP3 players will be the accessories. You can integrate the IPOD with stereos, car chargers, alarm clocks, output movies to a TV screen, etc. because there are soo many 3rd party products out there for the IPOD. Many of the new players (ZUNE by Microsoft) are nice, but you will find it a CHALLENGE to integrate it with other products, compared to the IPOD.

If you are looking to use your device for more than just listen to it through your earphones, get the IPOD.

Thanks Sperm.

From what I've heard on here and over dere>>> I think I'll get him the MP3 Player. All he listens to is music. If he doesn't like it, I'll take it and he can upgrade to the IPod if he wants.

I just want to know if there is a difference in sound quality. I had the Sansa 6 gig and I took it back. I know my hearing is bad from all of the "House" parties, but the sound quality wasn't there. The volume seemed challenged as well. I listened to my co-workers Ipod that was purchased 2 years ago and there was a night and day difference. It was much louder. The Ipod is expensive but I ordered it online from the circuit city website for 237.50. I'm cheap and I look to cut corners with everything. I will pick itup from the store this weekend.

Have you considered whether the headphones played a part in the bad sound quality? From what I understand, the headphones that ship with the iPod suck, I don't know about those that come with other music players.

The Etymotic brand headphones are supposed to provide good sound.

I can't say if they do or don't because I don't have them. I've just read reviews of various ones and those always come to the top of the list.

COSIGN

I have the 60 gig iPod, and I love it. The earbuds that come with it are so so in quality, but I have these things called Earjams for the iPod earbuds that I got from CompUSA for $12.99. They attach to the speaker on the earbud and they provide a noticeable increase in sound quality. They redirect the sound directly into your ear instead of letting some of it escape out of your ear which lets you hear the music in more detail, the bass, the treble, etc. Click here for a link to the product. Like Da_Sperm said, the iPod has a lock on the market and the numerous accessories really increase it's functionality. When I bought mine, I bought it just to listen to music also, but now I use it for so much more than that. I use it to store pictures, I rip dvds to it, listen to podcasts, sync my contacts and calendar from Microsoft Outlook to it, etc. I also have the iPod camera connector that lets me hook my digital camera to my iPod and I can transfer pictures straight from the camera to the iPod for viewing and to free up my memory card when it gets full so I can take more pictures. I highly recommend getting the iPod over any other MP3 player.

Well my kids have the IPOD Shuffle which is great for what they like to do with it and easy to download and purchase music from Itunes. I have taken over my daughters older MP3 that she got last year. It is a Sony that also has a FM receiver in it. I like it since I don't really download music to it that I don't already have on CD. I just upload CD's to it and it is very good to use during football season since I can listen to the football broadcast while I'm at the game since all of the Swac schools use a FM station to broadcast their games and I can just tune into those stations when I'm at their home games. If the Ipod had a FM receiver with it I would probably get one of those but they don't.

i was asking myself the same question before i got my ipod. its been said already, but ipod has a buttload of ascessories i mean u name they got it! i had to upgrade my earphones too. i went to radio shack to get some pro 35's but they was kinda high. so i got some koss earbuds. they sound sooooo good and they act as earplugs so i can tune my coworkers out! lol

btw i got the ipod nano 2GB with 376 songs on it, i got too much music for this thing my upgrade pretty soon.....

I'm going to purchase an iPod Nano shortly after XMAS. I will use it primarily for working out. I currently have a 20 gig iPod that is 4 years old. I want a smaller, lighter one to use while I run.

They may help some, but the accesories are few and far between for sansa (sandisk) mp3. The only thing they had on the ipod was the fm player.

ummm pti.....

I was at a mall yesterday and I saw the weirdest thing.

A vending machine that sells IPods, Nanos, accessories, etc. :retard::retard:

(if this is old, forgive me, cause I normally don't walk around malls and this was my first time seeing it)

MH,

That's very old... and if you are looking at getting someone an ipod you should get it from there it's cheaper.

I have an video ipod and just got my niece a Refurbished iPod nano 2GB for 89.00. It comes with a one year warrenty. That was a great deal since they are about 199.00 now.

I've seen those before, mainly in airports.
