It ain't about whether Shaq were there or not. He needed to be there and he needed Kobe to be there too.
Rip is a potent 2 guard but he will never ever. be Kobe. Man you guys hate reaches new heights each day.
History is still being written for Kobe and the Lakers. Shaq boasting lieing arse is at home. Shaq has been lieing and letting Kobe hang out to dry for years.
Shaq knew Kobe didn't run him out of LA but he allowed that ish to go on for 3 years. Then h is bloated ego is alive and well. Even though he had three of the most dominant guards on his teams. Penny,Kobe and D Wade. No dominant guard. Early exit from the playoffs.
Shaq is a big fake who craves attention and wants everyobody to kiss his arse. Kobe was never that guy so you all took shaq side. Even though Kobe plays through injury, changed his game 3 years ago and his team let him down, and shows up to play each night. Shaq on the other hand has not played an entire season in the last 7 years. He fakes injuries all the time and reports to camp fat.
Shaq was the reason the Lakers broke up. He wanted more money and Jerry Buss was not going. No way to keep Shaq and Kobe and afford any decent role players. All of the Lakers Role players were washed up with the expetion of Robert Horry and Fisher. No way could the Lakers compete with the team and Shaq's bloated contract.
Hate on Kobe all you want but he has a young team that will only get better in the next three to four years..
And Shaq needed Horry, Fox, Shaw, Harper, and Fisher
Dude..............if the Lakers didn't have Shaq back then, it would have been no clutch free throws to be made.........hell Bobby Jones made clutch free throws for the Sixers to win sometimes. So did Danny Ainge or others on the Celtics.........but it was Bird that got them there. I am sure McHale, Parrish and Dennis Johnson all won games in the playoffs for the Celtics. But again it was Bird that carried them for the most part. Same can be said if it wasn't for Kenny Smith's 3 pointers against Utah and then Orlando.......the Rockets would have lost pivotal games in the playoffs. But we all know Olajuwon was the reason they were there in the first place. Why can't you cats accept that Shaq was dominant back then and he carried the Lakers. Hell even Robert Horry saved the Lakers arse once or twice. So did D.Fisher. Don't act like Kobe was the main reason for the Lakers success. Everything ran through the Diesel. Nobody disputes he didn't have help. But he was the main cog that made the Lakers what they were doing that run. Same as it is for the Spurs with Tim Duncan. Ginobli and Parker may win some key playoff games for the Spurs.......but the big Fundamental is the main reason for the Spurs success.
And every single one of them left when Shaq left (Harper earlier).
Because they knew they weren't going to win with the man.
You guys have to remember in 2000 the Laker's were a quarter away from being out of the playoffs against the Blazers. In 01 they won in convincing fashion. In 02 Horry bailed them out against the Kings.
No, because the Lakers were not goign to pay them. Fisher went to GS, Shaw stayed on as a coach, Harper was old, Fox was tired, and Horry made the smartest move by going to the Spurs.
Not quite. Shaq was the reason that Fisher, Horry and Kobe got open looks. He demanded a double team practically every play during the 2000 to 2004 seasons. No one doubled Kobe then.....I disagree. Parker and Ginobli help the big Fundamentals. They spread the floor. Parker is lightning quik and can take just about every guard off the dribble. Ginobli walks his way to the basket. All Timmy has to do is beat his man ONe on One. And Tim is way better than Shaq. He actually has all the moves. Drop steps, bank shots, a jump shot and he can make free throws and paly defense. I called that when he was drafted. Told all my boys he would be better than Camby and I'm still laughing at that.
Without Kobe or Shaq the Lakers would be less three titles. Kobe was a double team and thriple team then and still is. And shaq was the biggest thing down low.
The Spurs and pistons proved that all you had to do was let shaq dominate and stop Kobe and you stop the Lakers. Shaw can have 50 but hold kobe to nothing and you win.
Before that, they were swept by the Utah Jazz and Greg Ostertag...
JR you speak the truth I will admit, but so do I. Kobe is the main reason why his team is in the runnings for a 4th ring in 8 years. Without Kobe the Lakers wont make it out of the West with just Gasol and Odem.
Because they knew they weren't going to win with the man.
You mean Stockton and Malone right?
You Laker fans who live outside of LA have to understand just how popular Shaq was there. Kobe still has haters that are Laker fans there. Hell my girl is one of them. Die Hard Laker fan. Can't stand Kobe.
Last time I checked Ostertag was starting...

I dont care what anyone says. Horry was the reason they won in 02.

I was in L.A. in 2002 during the run where they beat the Kings in 7 and the Nets. I think it was about equal Kobe and Shaq hype back then. Horry was 3rd.
I dont care what anyone says. Horry was the reason they won in 02.
You know exactly what I mean. Shaq was always in the community, hanging with LA/Hollywood scene. Kobe was considered stand offish by alot of LA folks. Seriously. Folks tend to gravitate to Shaq's personality. Kobe never had that. He is actually acting more laid back than he ever has.
Actually, it was double Shaq in the post when he catches it and run at everyone else. No one doubles 2 guys......Yes he was. do the math. Double Shaq and Kobe and the other three guys were left wide open.
Same with Mike and Scottie
Shaq and D wade
Penny and Shaq.
Stop it man. I watched every game. I remember when Kobe was passing his arse off in the one you guys blamed on Kobe. Shaq was hot and Kobe was hitting people wide open and they were missing shots. Horry,Fisher, all them guys were missing shots. Kobe had to tone down his game and then the team let him down. Shaq couldn;t do a dayum thing but dunk and miss freethrows.
