Thats Bullspit for the majority of Black Texans, and you know it P~!!! Yall Black Texans know yall luv some UT or A&M! Honestly I couldn't understand it when I moved out here, some folks told me that this is just the way it is.
PV folks do represent even when yall were getting blasted, but a lot of sTu folks will rep Texas Tech or SMU (in addition to UT, A&M, or UofH). So, no this isn't just the case in Bama, its alive and well in TX too:shame:
If folks want to root for Bama or any other non HBCU, then that is fine. I can't get on people for supporting a team.
Why support a team when they dont give a damn about you? Only if you play sports for them.

GR.
did a bama really say that they can't understand why any black athlete that can write their own name would sign with a HBCU?:shame::shame::shame:
This is plain ignorance at it's best. Now, I grew up in South Mississippi and you would be hard pressed to fine one Ole Miss or MSU fan, seriously. Most people from my area cheer for LSU or Florida. Southern Miss gets a lot of love because of their diversity (Hattiesburg is a wonderful College town) and friendliness towards regular black students. No black kids in Mississippi are growing up with the intentions of going to Ole Miss. We may consider going to play sports eventually or law school but in general, nope.
That is just difference between the two states and it has nothing to do with sports...
Blacks in Alabama are taught to love Bama from birth...
Blacks in Mississippi are taught to hate Ole Miss from birth...
this week alone ive seen more Crimson Tide car flags than Hornet flags my entire time down here.
you bammas make me sick
But Bama won the national title. I think it is good a state rallies around one of its programs.
cool but this is not UA this is ASU.
i dont care about people having the Bama car flag, im just mad that i see it on my campus.
like my professor said, no crimson tide runs in his body. a percent of money spent on them flags goes to UA..they could have spent that money here. But i guess thats how folks born in Bama were rasied, to worship massa

Yes
When Scrawdog first got on the board that was his statement. We were talking about TC Taylor and how highly recruited he was coming out of highschool. Scrawdog didnt believe that JSU could recruit good players.
He said "Why would a black athlete that can read/write his name choose a black school?"
The folks from JSU were shocked by such a c**n (for lack of a better word) statement. That just went to show what he thought of his own players. At the time he didnt know that some HBCU fans actually were proud of their athletes and their school. Since then he has gotten better, but he had to be reprogrammed by some proud black people to love his school. He is getting better, but as you can see by this thread alone, we proud JSUers have more work to do.

Alabama State University is not and island.
It is a University - a melting pot of races, genders, cultures and ideas.
There are people working on ASU's campus who attended the University of Alabama.
There are students on ASU's campus who transferred from the University of Alabama.
There are students and employees on ASU's campus who have sisters, brothers, fathers, mothers, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews or children who attended or currently attend the University of Alabama.
There are people visiting or doing businesss on ASU's campus who fit in one of the above categores.
Then there are people on ASU's campus who are JUST PLAIN OL' FANS of the University of Alabama.
And for the life of me, I can't understand what's so bad about any of the above. Personnally, it bothers me more to see a student wearing another HBCU's shirt than a Bama or Texas or Miami or Notre Dame shirt. To me that's kinda like someone in a frat wearing another frat's shirt.
I didn't attend the University of Alabama, but I am a fan. I've never set foot in New York, but I'm a big Yankee fan. I've never set foot in California, but I'm a big USC fan. Is that OK with you?
Again, we are not an island.
And as always . . .
